Does anyone know the name of the company that makes Spyderco on Taiwan?

The Sage Series Is Made In Taiwan. And Everyone I've Ever Spoken To Has Spoken Highly Of The Taiwan Made Knives. And After Owning My Sage 2.. I Have A Chokwe On The Way And I'm Sure It Will Be As Excellent As The Sage 2. And I'm Working On Getting A Sage 1.

I'm starting to think that the makers of Kevin John products, also make Spyderco knives in Taichung Taiwan.

I just saw a carbon fiber Southard on a website, sold by Kevin John. Included were pictures of Spyderco boxes, paperwork, and the southard looks identical to my legitimate Southard. That's why I'm beginning to think they're linked. Maybe a few new Southards for the employees producing them, being sold instead?

The Chinese have gotten very good at copying every little detail down to the box and paperwork. Kevin John knives are made in China and the Southard is made in Taiwan I highly doubt there is any relationship between the two

this thread is disturbing.

Imagine walking up to A.G.Russell and asking him who he uses to make knives because you want to make some too. He would probably be trying to determine who your parent or legal guardian was to make sure you got back safely because you obviously were on a day pass from a local institution and weren't being looked after well enough.

Now? Contact a shadowy company in Asia, buy your membership and go to it. In fact. Cut out a few middlemen. Forget building a relationship, going through the engineering and development, legal papers, shipping fees.

Just wait and hijack the truck and increase your profit even further.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

It is disturbing. It's just mind boggling how this Kevin John company would be selling legitimate carbon fiber southard's. Maybe I should give Sal the link.

What makes you think they're legitimate in any way?

I can see Sal not sending out press releases about his manufacturing choices. The law states only the country of origin needs to be identified. This doesn't mean we can't know though.

Some of you seem to think that the maker is top secret, send in the spies, type of knowledge. Are you really telling me that other major knife makers can't figure this out? I found out quickly after wondering about my Sage II. It was 10 minutes of Google away. This thread has disturbing aspects, but it's not people wanting to know what factory makes their knives. Knowledge leads to better choices with few exceptions. I fear those that feel secrets make things better. (Please, no national security rebuttals. EDC is not classified information.)

Thank you Joti Development for my great knives, they are world class!

Well said.

Haven't read the thread, but I'm pretty sure if you wanted to you could figure it out with google in about 5 mins.

For the most part, I agree. However, while there'd be nothing wrong with me admiring your new watch, being curious as to what it cost, then then going home and Googling it, my saying "hey, that's a nice watch" then asking you what you paid for it would be downright boorish and considering it odd if you chose not to share that information would be even more so.
