Does anyone know this Barlow ?

Robin, I am thinking that you might have an old knife that may have been made by an employee on his lunch hour out of parts that were laying around in the factory.
Just a thought because it is so nice and well built.

Hey - Mark - you may be onto something - boy imagine if you were in a position to be able to do something like that - to be able to actually make your own knife and carry it - Wow - and like you suggested it has happened!
I am thinking that its a contracted knife that didnt get to see the end run of consignment - like a Camillus made knife made for Duncans Knife shop in New Zealand - but wasnt stamped Camillus because we have seen MANY knives from the Sheffield region with the retailers name only stamped on the blades - I wonder if this was the same?
I hope no-one takes me thinking aloud as a wipe over of their thoughts - as its just me thinking out aloud - and the odds are me being wrong and everyones right anyway :o :D

If you do see any of those knives stamped Duncans Knife Shop, N.Z - grab it - they are rare as rocking horse stuff! :D

Thank you Duncan, I am not alone, thinking aloud is what I do best. :D

I have a Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett OVB Barlow that is like brand new.....but......the tang stamp was ground off at the factory. I think it was a knife that a employee made and just got tossed in a drawer. I wonder how many knives cutlers made and sold to friends and family?!

Have a good one my friend.

Here is a Keen Kutter that I re-handled. The spear blade resembles yours and the pen on mine was broken. Notice the back spring pin location is the same also.
