And I don't even have to squint!

This topic has been beat to death. Lets drop it.

You might want to get your facts straight and then try again.

Thats a Matrix, the supposed copy of the ZT 0777

Well on a brighter note I enjoy my Whaleshark. Great F+F. Sharpest production blade Ive ever owned.

True, it might not be the whale shark, but if we are talking about copying, I think it is pretty straight forward. "Supposed" really isn't the right word.

You are right it is a blatant copy. But not a copy of Zero Tolerance. Where did ZT get that knife design from?

Are we really going to start with the Russian maker again?

Yes, I do have an axe to grind with MT. No, I will not stop popping up in threads to grind that axe. Open up your eyes and stop sipping the Kool Aid for longer than 5 minutes to look at what is before you. The whole concept for the automatic/manual knife that uses a key to unlock the button for automatic opening was originated with that SnG copy that Tony had no permission to make. When it got shot down the Select Fire magically appeared on the market. The handle was changed slightly, the forward choil was kept (first time on an MT knife), and the blade was widened. If you can't see the similarities then you are not only in denial, but you are blind as well.

The Whaleshark came back into existence after the blatant ripoff of the ZT0777. The design was already used years earlier on an all Ti handle prototype that Tony made. The idea was revisited after the Faketrix debacle. The sub framelock was stolen, straight up, not supposedly, stolen from ZT's 0777 design.

So let's see here. Tony took the SnG design without permission, Tony took the Mikov design without permission, Tony took the ZT0777 design without permission, and then used certain aspects of the stolen 0777 design to make the Whaleshark. Walter Brend won't even talk to the guy and I haven't heard that Greg Lightfoot or Bob Terzuola are lining up to collaborate with Tony again. He won't even go on to Microholics, or anywhere else for that matter, to explain anything other than popping up on that forum quite a few years ago to tell all his fans to go F themselves. Oh, and God forbid some else actually designs an OTF besides Tony M. He'll just steal their next design, call it his own, and then never give an actual explanation himself. There's more stuff that doesn't even need to be brought up in this thread because it will only open other people's old wounds.

So what else am I making up

To many inaccuracies to touch on right here right now. Im currently dealing with the hurricane aftermath.

But Kershaw did not originate the subframe lock.

That's not a Whaleshark, this is a Whaleshark!

On a related to the thread note, shame about the Socom Delta. They were just starting to grow on me.

Kershaw did not originate the subframe lock.

True story. Borrowed from a German designer IIRC. I can vaguely see that the SF may have been influenced by the SNG. But that doesn't make it a copy, or a rip off. Not unless Strider had already made that specific design. Plenty of knives are influenced by other knives. Look at Randall, how many knives resemble his? Doesn't mean they're stolen designs.

Personally I would have no pity for Mock Strider even if it was a pirated design.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with that crap weather down there right now, but if I am inaccurate I would like to know the accurate stories so that I can get my crossed wires straightened out.

Is there a link to this story? Are you talking about Dmitry Sinkevich? SiDiS Knives? I've seen a picture of one of his knives that appears to have a sub framelock, but the one picture is all I've ever seen or heard about that.

I never said that the Select Fire was a copy or ripoff of anything. What I said was that the Select Fire evolved from the SnG design that Microtech was not allowed to produce, but did anyway. It may not have been a production run, it may have only been a few prototype pieces, but the fact is that Tony M. produced a knife that he had no right to. Hey, I'm not a fan of Strider either, but that doesn't mean that someone should just reproduce their design without their permission. Like I said, if that is what is happening now then that is great for both Strider and MT.

So now you are admitting to trolling Microtech threads? That is against forum rules.

Give it a rest man. Voicing his opinion does not mean he's trolling just because his opinion differs from yours.

Neither Tony Marfione nor Mick Strider are overly ethical businessmen, Tony probably being worse. Buy the knives you like from the people you like, don't buy the ones you don't.

Or just buy the knives you like.

I just love how every thread that has any reference to MT turns into a "let's all tell the world how much we hate Tony M." I was interested in some of the info here until some just had to jump on that band wagon again. Y'all should get shirts. It's too bad this might get locked now, I would've liked to see what was coming.

TriviaMonster, what's that about the Socom Delta? Is that going away too?

So what you're all saying is that the next model to replace the Select Fire has already been designed by another manufacturer. :D

I admit to nothing other than voicing my opinion. You fanned the flames. Can I get those accurate stories now, since I'm so wrong about everything?

I can't imagine them doing away with the Delta so soon. From what I've seen they've been very popular, my local shop can't keep them on the shelf, I was lucky to get mine.

That's why I asked. I've been trying to get my hands on one and I've had zero luck. Really want one, so I'll keep at it.
