Does anyone still edc a Spyderco Police?

I enjoy my PE left handed CF police in the sweet VG-10 which i usually alternate with my PE Starmate in CPM 440V. Did I mention that it's Left Handed??!?

I think both steels perform very well, and I haven't had any problems with sharpening either on the ol' Spyderco Sharpener.

Prosit! Cheers! Salut!

Hey, didn't everybody that saw this knife ask you why "POLICE" was on the blade?
I have had mine for at least ten years, maybe longer. Wasn't it like the first pocket clip knife out there? Well, at least that large.
Who else had problems with it chewing up your pants just above where you carried it?
Mine I put in a vise now and then to tighten that side play.
My very next knife after that was an Emerson CQC7, and that to this day hard use and all never, ever loosened up a bit.
The POLICE model was always impressive, and when I showed mine to two other guys at work, they each ordered one.
Good memories.

The G-10 flat-ground Police was my EDC for about one year but there were just a few things I did'nt like about it:

The word "Police" on the blade--I thought it would give folks the impression that I was a wannabe.
And, yes, I did get tired of explaining that "Police" was the name of the model.

In my pocket, the knife rides a little too high for my taste.

The tip was just too fragile for an EDC, IMHO.

But I still think it is one of Spyderco's best knives ever.

Allen.

I've EDC'd a SS/PE Police (GIN-1) for around 10-12 years. I like the slimness of it, and have never had any trouble with it tearing up jeans. Good solid knife that has served very well, and I'll likely get one in a newer steel, eventually.

I usally switch to the smaller Delica II SS/PE (AUS-6) for wearing with a suit, slacks or when traveling through a state that doesn't appreciate the length of the Police. I originally bought the Delica II to have a short enough version of the same style for airplane carry, but of course that's out, now. :grumpy:

You just responded to a thread that is 3 years old - WELCOME ;) !

Yes, but it is very refreshing to see a new member search for and post in a relevant thread, rather than starting an entirely new one. Why it is that newer people can't do the same with flame-worthy questions about Cold Steel, Strider, and Sebenzas, I'll never know.;)

Welcome aboard, WDG!:)

Spyderco's Police Knife is one my favorite Spydies. I've got a tuffram coated SE aluminum Police Knife in my EDC rotation.

Great thread and well worth resurrecting.

The SE Police was that knife I always lusted after before I really got into knives. I had a Delicia for my first good knife and the Police was always the bigger badder version. I finally got the Police I always wanted. It had to be Stainless and fully serrated even though usually I am a PE die hard. Like the Civilian the Police is one of the few knives that should be serrated ,it is iconic. SS Spydercos are also one of the best knives for concealed carry.

I finally got the SS Serrated Police of my dreams in VG-10 of course (Thank you Sweetcheeks) and for a good dealon the exchange.

If you want a PE knife I would usually suggest the endura before the Police though.

One of my favourite things about the SS Police is how innocuous it looks clipped to your pants and how incredibly wicked that huge serrated blade is when you pull it out.
I am actually glad it says "POLICE" because if it didn't it would practically scream serial killer.

I have a SS police from back in the early 90's. In good shape, and I carry it all the time. I use it primarilly for preparing food like peeling an apple, as well as personal grooming.
