I've search with Yahoo and Altavista, with no results, even the manufacturers links page here does not have them listed. Do they have a website ? Need to order bunch of their batons, but don't know enough about the different versions, hoping their website would answer what I need. Thanks

What I can offer is their customer service phone #.
It's 1-920-735-6242 (8am-5pm CST).

Try looking under what ASP means: Armament Systems and Procedures, INC. 800-236-6243 Al

Do a search on ASPs and you will find a lot of negative remarks on them. Try out Monadnock batons. Many say they're superior.

I have a 26" asp. They have a problem of getting stuck open. My buddy's asp is stuck open for good and he never hit anything with it.

I have ASPs, Monadnocks, Cascos and one Hiatts zytel expandable baton, together with numerous "clones". They all share the same characteristics: you must put OIL on the sides of the baton or some other type of lubrication. It also helps if you flip the baton open and close it numerous times to wear it in. I always have a 16 inch clone with me. I've flipped it open so many times that it will no longer stay open.
The ASP has a spring which lets the user adjust the level of resistance before the baton is expanded.

I don't know why people don't like their ASP's. I use a 26" on a frequent basis, and have not had any problems with it. I look at it like this; it's a tool that you must take care of. If you don't, it will fail. I'm sure that there is however a few faulty ones out there, but, if you are leagaly carrying one (take the course through your dept.) they teach you to use it closed anyway. If you are proficient enough, close strikes are just as effective as open strikes. The other thing is, ASP will supprot you in court if it is used and the suspect tries to sue you. I depened on mine!

You have to hit something with it to close it

Maybe that's his problem.

I'm getting baton envy...

So do you guys use these things for a backup protection device?

Not yeah, the place I take my self defense classes, won't purchase them, since its not a normally scheduled class. However there is an advanced instructor that will teach a course with them if the students buy their own. There is a large group of us that agreed, and I'm trying to find some good ones for us.

I use mine on duty. I hit bad people that are trying to hurt me. I know that if you are not trained on the use of one, and if ou are not certified through the ASP program, you can get nailed for carrying a deadly weapon.
