Does burl wood need stabilizing?

Nevermind, I now see that I'm not even a basic member anymore. I'm sure that's how it was done right?

Kevin nailed it on the head.
It’s about the process, for now I’m not doing any heat treating until I am ready to spend the money on the proper equipment, I am also lucky to live 5 miles from Willie71, who does a great job. I’m looking into handle materials now and will leave the stabilization to the experts until I feel I’m ready for the next step.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your experience.

Kevin, with your stabilizing setup I'll bet you're getting 100% penetration of resin into wood, and the finished wood will either sink or float right at the surface - just like K&G's blocks? That's my experience with home stabilizing. Black Walnut - don't bother with home stabilizing, send to K&G.

Anvilring, to post a photo you'll have to host the image at a image hosting site (https://imgbb.com/ is one of the best), create an acct and upload photos to that site. Photos need to be smaller than 300 to 600 pixels or so. Once they're uploaded, look for the icon in imgbb.com that says "embedded codes", then select the "BBCode full" option, copy that link and paste it to the area you wish it to appear. Your photo will then appear in the post.

I thought so, here's a link to a thread that gives much better detailed instructions for this site. The thread recommends imgur.com which is a good site and is perhaps just as good as imgbb.com. Either works good.
