Does cryo-treatment on SST blades make a big difference?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Before the turkey-coma kicks in I would appreciate some advice. I have recently ordered a large Bowie blade from Jantz made from 440-C and after a brief discussion with the sales rep I found out that it was not cryo-treated. After a bit of reading I learned there are benefits to putting the blade through a cryo-cycle, such as you can address the retained austinite and get to a full marteniste transformation.

Is there a notable difference in performance of a SST blade that has been cryo-treated vs one that has not? If so is it possible to cryo-treat the blade at any time or have I missed the boat on this one?

Is there a difference - Yes.
Will it matter to you on a premade blade - probably not.

Cryo [-300 F ] doesn't work well after the fact. It must be part of the HT process. Besides RA and martensite it produces fine eta carbides .
Sub-zero treatment [ -100 F ] will not produce eta carbides .

Mete, how long does it take to form eta carbides. I've read 6-10 hours.
