So ..... I start off with an alox Soldier - figured if it was good enough for the Swiss Army it was good enough for me.

But ..... they also have a new 111mm Soldier - love the old Soldier - better try the new Soldier, too.

Never thought about toothpicks & tweezers before, but they might come in handy. Ordered a Wenger Esquire (Vic Classic) so as to have 'pick & tweezers, but I'll never use the scissors.

Love having the scissors.

Got all my bases covered now! ..... But I never use the can opener on the Soldiers', and that little sheepsfoot blade on an Electrician would get lots more use. Bought an Electrician.

Man, I've been seeing pics of a lot of colored alox knives lately, and that blue alox Farmer sure looks sweet! Bought a blue alox Farmer.

That blue alox Farmer is just too pretty to use, and I miss the little sheepsfoot blade, but I like the idea of having a saw with me on those days that I don't carry the 111mm Soldier. Aha - Electrician Plus. Bought an Electrician Plus.

..... Meanwhile, somewhere in the middle of all this, I start reading threads about Multi-tools. Heck, I'm retired - I don't need no stinking multi-tool! ..... But ..... I could see where having just a little keychain multi with pliers would be real handy sometimes. Bought a Squirt P4.

That Vic SwissTool sounds like it's a TANK! Even though I don't need it, I have to get one. Hello ebay, goodbye $40.

While on the bay saying goodbye to the $40, I see a mint, made-in-the-USA, Original Leatherman. Heard some people sayin' they like the older Leathermans better than the new ones, as far as quality is concerned. I don't need it, but I have to have it. Won it.

Then Leatherman comes out with the Squirt PS4 - pliers and scissors. Ordered it last week, got it today.

AND ..... somewhere in the "middle of the middle" of all this, I start lookin' at keychain flashlights, and become acquainted with new words like "Fenix", and "Inova".

..... Does it ever end??? ;)

Vic's are fairly inexpensive as compared to "Tacticals or customs . I haven't bought one in about 6 months . Works out to be a cheap habit .

Yeah the blue farmer is sweet. But if u want the iceing on the cake check out some swiss bianco stuff

No, it never ends. I never intended to collect SAKs, but I have a box full of them now. :-)

Same with Leathermans. Not that I have a box of Leathermans now, only two. I always thought that a SAK would be good enough and I didn't need those pliers. But they could be handy and so, I bought a second hand Bahco multitool for about $10 and I liked it. It is a nice and very functional piece of steel and I used the pliers more than I thought. The Bahco isn't suitable for pocket carry, it is too big, in my opinion of course. Reading on the forum I learned about the Leatherman Juice series and bought the S2 model. The quality of that Leatherman is noticeably better than the Bahco, so I figured that I needed a big Leatherman too. The internet shop where I buy gear regularly offered the New Wave at low prices, so I have that one too.

I'm hearing ya coyote, I went through a very similar buying avalanche.

I think part of the problem is that I am used to the prices of other high end knives and when I see a beautifully crafted knife like the Alox series and the $20-$30 price tag I end up buying 3 or 4 or.....

Chris makes a good point. Compared to customs and the knife tac knives SAKs are very affordable. For a very low price point, you get superb quality!

In short words:

No, it does not.

Enjoy it!!!!!!
Every moment!

+1

I started out with a small SAK years ago. Then, onto Leathermans, then Swisstools, Gerbers, etc. I'm up to flashlights now. Enjoying every minute of it.

i know what u mean. I bout a rucksack and love it. But, decided i didnt want the corkscrew. So, i bout and original trekkerr (non one handed opening) since the corkscrew is replaced with a more useful (to me) philips screw driver. Then i wanted something smaller so i bought a tinker. then i wanted an alox SAK so i bought a farmer. Then i wanted a smaller alox SAK so i bout a cadet. Ohh, the fun of SAks lol!

No...it never does

Start - Vic Spartan + Classic Combo

Then if I recall correctly it went - Explorer, Huntsman, three Super Tinkers (they were on clearance), Outrider, Ranger, OHT Plain Edge, Electrician Plus

That doesn't even count the multitools - Gerbers, Leathermans, and Vics oh my!

I wish I hadnt seen this thread. Reading it made me realize that there are several new SAK's that I don't own YET..... Thanks a lot....
