Does it ever end???

No it does not, it will not nor should it ever!

Why would one want it to end anyway? :D

Yes it does end.
My Father, God bless his sole, he loved knives. A WWII Vet he carried a knife since he was a youngster. He always had a Case Peanut on him. In his later years he discovered SAKs. He had two Buck fixed blades, which cleaned many PA Whitetail, squirrels, turkey, ground hog, pheasant etc. He and I even went on a tour of the Case factory in Bradford. He loved using his knives.
In his later years his health took a turn for the worse. He ended up living an assisted living facility. They took his Case peanut away. When I would visit, we would go outside and whittle on some soft balsa wood. He loved that.
I miss my Dad and his love of knives.

It won´t get better... it´ll get worse. I started out just like you buying every SAK I could find (now I got about 20). But the I started to look at more pricey folders and I bought me a Benchmade Mini Griptilian. WOW, this was someting else! So I got me a Benchmade 710D2, and then a Sequel 707... and then Nitrous Stryker... etc. Jesus! what´s next???

I think it's all relative - it has actually got better for me - I started out with knives that were more expensive than SAK's.

So now when I spend $20 - $40 for a SAK I think I'm getting by cheap compared to say $40 - $120 that I used to spend ..... or looked at another way, if I spend say $100 now, I can get 3 or 4 nice SAK's where I used to get only 1 or maybe 2 knives for that same $100. :D

I agree, I still enjoy the Seb's, Benchmades and other high $ knives that I have, but for some reason, the SAK is so addicting. It's functional and reasonably affordable (In Large Quantities).....

i've been faithful with SAKs for 20years... many modern one hand opening advance folder now with exotic steel... but the simpe SAKs is still my fav... used to got more than 100 saks, about just more than half of that now...

to many "macgyver" moment in my life with saks... its a usefull tool..

if you love saks... consider it a blessing since the're affordable, hi quality and no nonsense tool.

Ok, so after reading this thread.....
I went out and bought an alox farmer, blue alox classic SD and found a black classic sd for $8.00 so I had no choice....

And I am doing everything that I can not to bid on the blue alox farmer on the b a y. :(

Nope, it never ends......

I beat that bug easy. I had a minichamp, upgraded to a super tinker, then to a centurion and then, to end it all, i bought a swisschamp. No more for me, probably. Now as far as multi tools, i first had a buck tool (favorite EVER), then onto a leatherman super tool, then to a gerber legend 800 and to end it all i got the swisstool. I wish i could find another buck tool....

I looked at a BLUE ALOX FARMER for a few weeks before finally giving in and buying one - meanwhile the price had went from around $32.00 to $39.00 - I'm guessing when this seller gets down to his last few the price will go up more.

I still got my first SAK. Everytime I seem find another good model, there's another in behind the corner. I thought I Victorinox Explorer might be one for long carry but then I saw last edition of SwissBianco with their Victorinox Yeoman MK III and I see if I could get one of those. Like explorer but 3 layered.

I wish they would make Alox version from Explorer...

I guess I've hit a plateau , can't think of anything I actually want at the moment .

Chris

Give it a few weeks. Oh ya and don't go look at pocket dump threads or threads like whats on your keychain. Those threads are the worst when it comes to finding new cool things ;)
