Does my WOOD look fat to you?

I have been clearing some land at my mom's house and came across a huge pine stump my dad drug up around twenty years ago. We used it to light our wood stove to heat the house. This is about half of what's left after 20 years of use and rot. Once cut up it should make a great camping companion!

By the way, that is my Scrap Yard Dog Father and my Double Cut Dumpster Mut.

score... that title cracked me up too... i had to read it a second time...:o

I don't want to hijack this thread but, please, what do you exactly call "fat wood"? I use very seasoned resinous wood (a piece of larch) to light a fire, but is it what you are talking about?
Thanks to let me know.

wow that is a big log. was that all one round, or a couple of rounds? looks like it will do just fine...

All together this was propably around 3 feet across and like I said, this is only half. I left the other half at my mom's to cut up another day.

I call this fatwood, grease wood, petrafied wood, etc. It is the stump of a pine tree where the pine sap drained to the bottom over the years of growth. This particular one was pushed over by loggers in East Texas. There is a lot of logging around here so these pine stumps are everywhere. If I didn't already have this I would be asking the loggers to save me a bit, otherwise they just burn it.
