Does "pruning" mean deleting or archiving?

Thanks for your excellent idea of using the archive. I never knew that existed (although now I remember finding bladeforums pages in that format on google searches).

Another member of the HI forum is trying to use a webcrawler program to download everything through the the "archive" page. With a bit of luck, it will work.
 
HOLY CRAP my bandwidth went through the roof. Guys, no offense but PLEASE don't slurp the entire site like this! Multiple people doing this really costs a ton of money!
 
Hmm ... could we postpone the pruning long enough to let people do their archiving gradually and spread it out over a couple of weeks or however long it should take to avoid overloading the servers?
 
Would it help out if the people doing automated archiving only ran it during off peak hours? What are the off-peak hours anyways?

I don't think there are many people who are running the automated programs. As far as I know only Nasty from the HI forum and Ted Voorde have said they are doing anything with the automated archiving. I was running some scripts a couple days ago, but I stopped. I'm on a dial-up connection so it's doubtful that took up much bandwidth anyways.
