Hi fellow forumers, Still new here and OVERWHELMED by the wealth of knowledge!! it's awesome!! I have a Sog Aegis and a while ago I removed the pocket clip (with correct torx bit) to clean it well and oil it. I didn't take anything else apart, just cleaned it with oil and q tips. When I put the clip back on, the zytel handle material cracked at the top of the handle, where the bayonet style clip attaches (great clip by the way, deep carry, but it says SOG on the knife about 500 times..) So.. my question is, does removing the clip void the warranty? on the SOG website they say dissasembling the knife voids the warranty.. Does anyone have experience with SOG warranty dept. or has anyone had similar problems with cracking zytel.. I Screwed the bit in very carefully, and didn't overtighten it.. really I was surprised the handle cracked, It's been a good blade.. Thanks in advance for the help, If anyone knows about this, I figure you are here!! Thanks for looking, -hayes

I seriously doubt removing the pocket clip voids the warranty. Pocket clips get loose all the time, and a little re tightening isn't usually an issue. I'm not familiar on their turn-around time but I would think they shouldn't have any problem warrantying the issue.

I think you are right, I'll send it in. If it's a problem, they lost a customer! Otherwise good blade but the handle material shouldn't crack like that.. I have removed and replaced my share of pocket clips, but the cracked handle is a first! and not such a cheap blade.... too bad.. thanks for the input, -hayes

With both my SOG folders I've taken the clip off and bent the piece you insert like two or three degrees just to make the clip a little tighter. Never had an issue, I'm surprised at the cracking too.
