Does Shop Talk need subforums?

:
I'm another one who appreciates this forum just the way it is.
A lot of us come here looking or asking for one kind of information and then stay to read the rest of what we want.

I'm also another one who appreciates the pix posted here. I don't always comment online, but at least I have the opportunity.
I really appreciate the pix and the tutotrials from some of the guys who post the pix.:D

This is a great learning forum the way it is. I feel if it were sub categoried it would lose much of it's appeal, to me anyway.

Yep. leave it like it is. If you fragment it, you waste a bunch of time going here to there, I barely have time for the forums I like to frequent now. Which means evetually part of the forums will wither and die. my .02

I think there needs to be a metalurgy subforum, where people can pit steel against steel, like 01 vs. L6 or whatever, and they can discuss the effects of heat treating and all that good stuff. Call it Heat Treatment and Metalurgy. It would be the more technical part of shop talk. I mean, with vBulletin it won't really take more resources or anything....

Please leave it the way it is Spark. :)

I like the people over at the CKD, but that's one thing I really don't like about their set-up...each topic is broken down, so I rarely have time to look at very many of the forums.

Here, everyone's post is thrown into the "shop" and can easily be viewed or avoided by a click or lack there of.

I love this site...
Nick

Like the this forum the way it is, most of the time the posts are pretty appropriate and related to knifemaking. I appreciate the general nature of discussion which covers many or all topics related to knifemaking.

Sort of like browsing through a magazine, you read and respond to what you want.:D

Leave it as it is. I like the variety we get here. So many topics are covered. It allows me to pick and choose what I want to read.

Leave it as is !

Shop Talk says it all. If we are looking for info or have a question related to making a blade how much more obvious could it be than to go to shop talk.
It is so much more easy to scan the single row of subjects in this one forum for those that may be of specific intrest than it would be to search several others.
As it is I feel guilty that I spend too much time at the computer rather than in the shop.
Once again, PLEASE DON'T CHANGE IT.

Seems like we have a consensus
