Does Spyderco refurbish older knives?

I sent an older Para-Military into the service department for sharpening. I sent an extra $20 for additional work.

The knife is about four years old. Needs a clip, pivot screw, vertical play with the blade, sticky lock release. But is in good shape and can be fixed by someone who knows how. Is that something they will do for the $5 sharpening & $20 for extra work?

Thanks

It should be according to there W and R part of their website that will take care of it.

they might just end up replacing it for you, but the $5 is for shipping. they sharpen for free unless it's super messed up with dings and such. $20 is for anything else like missing clip. i bought an older knife without a clip and i just ordered a clip from their outlet store.

I guess you will think they replaced the Milli, cause they do a great job on refurbish the used Spyders...

Yes, The $5 is for shipping. Their policy is $20 for all the other things that may damage a knife. I can just imagine the condition some folks return their knife and expect warranty replacement. My knife was not damaged it was just used. Their is no way to expect any company to warranty use. I never sent a knife into Spyderco. This one needed more than sharpening. So I sent the extra $20.

What I was hoping for was what TheHunt said. Not a replacement (that would be off the chart customer service) but bring it back to like new as I have had Benchmade do for me. In fact, I did not ask them to refurbish my Benchmade. I just sent it in for sharpening (also $5 shipping which is very generious of Spyde & Benchmade). It came back looking new, they replaced most hardware etc.:)

I was wondering what Spyderco's shop was like. TheHunt, have you had this service? Or anyone on the Spyderco forum?

Thanks guys.

i think i did have a screw replaced on my ukpk due to stripping. came back super solid! plus, their complimentary sharpening is always nice and they gave me back my $20 :)

I sent my TI Lum Tanto in for sharpening due to the blade being jacked up by a Bass Pro employee:mad:,the guy practically begged me to let him sharpen it (and as you guessed I let him)........anyway I sent them 20 because the tip was now jacked, and the blade had some awesome grind marks going down the length of it.Spyderco did a awesome job on it and polished the blade back up,and it looks almost brand new. They sent me back my check for 20 and asked that I just send them five .
