I plan to buy a lightweight, plain-edge Delica real soon. Does Spyderco offer these with black-coated blades? My dad bought an Endura several years ago with a coated blade, but I haven't seen any in the recent past. If Spyderco does not offer this anymore, does anyone have any suggestions on who to go to? Thank you.

I think bladeart has them under production knives.., under spyder co, abouth halfway down the page..

The only black bladed folder that Spyderco currently offers is the Bob Lum Tanto.
Bladeart.com has some older (discontinued) black Delicas - the pre'98 version, with the zytel clip and AUS-8 steel (or was it AUS-6?).

Thanks. :) I actually just went out and picked up a new Delica made out of VG-10. It's a real sweet little blade; I know I'll have it in my pocket for some years to come.

Supposedly there is a black bladed Perrin although I have never been able to find one :( I would like to get one as well as a black temperance.

Some of the newer steels are not compatible with the black coatings. I do not recall all the details, but it has to do with the high temperatures required to cure the coatings not being compatible with the heat treat of the steel. One example of such a steel is CPM440V.

Hi Ad. You didn't hear it from me, but I heard a rumor that (this year) there might be something available as an exclusive through a distributor.
