Does Texas Knifemaker's Supply Treat CPM154?

Yeah, I know. The obvious place to inquire would be Texas Knifemakers' Supply. I inquired by voicemail message, and got no reply. So I called during business hours, and a woman whose name escapes me, answered the phone. I said, "Do you guys heat treat CPM 154?" and she replied, "No, we don't do that."

Then I was googling around and I am pretty sure I saw a post here on Blade Forums, by somebody who had sent their CPM154 to Texas Knifemakers' for heat treatment.

Anybody have any recent experience with this?

Thanks.

The would be odd seeing as how they heat treat other CPM steels as well as 154CM:

Why they wouldn't heat treat CPM 154 would baffle me. But, stranger things have happened.

Another piece of the puzzle: I did not see CPM 154 listed on their heat treat and cryo form.

Then again, maybe the person who picked up the phone that day was clueless and/or overworked. I am going to call back today and maybe I will get a different answer.

I had them HT CPM154 a few months ago. Mark it on the order form as 154cm, since they are the same alloy.

Hesparus, did you indicate somewhere that it was CPM154? Would the two metals be heat treated exactly the same?

Thanks, and thanks to everybody for your responses.

I was told here that the HT procedure for 154cm and CPM154 are the same, so I just told them it was 154cm.

Ive had them h.t. my 154cm several times.Sometimes the customer service there is questionable.

They do it. I am sure the lady was just unsure of what you were asking.

The HT for ATS-34, 154CM, and CPM-154 are all identical, as they are all the same steel type. Most other normal knife stainless steels (440, S35V, AEBL) are pretty much the same, too.
