does the kabar usmc suck?

I prefer to think that it uses it's mouth prettier than a $20 French whore. ;)

+1 KaBar and 1911

I got my old USMC Ka-Bar when I was a kid and put the knife through alot of shit such as throwing it at trees, using it as a prybar, stabbing a solid 2" thick wood door and dropped it on hard surfaces more than a few times just to name some of the things I put it through and the most damage ever done to it was a few nicks in the blade that were grounded out in about 30 secs with sandpaper and some of the finish came off. While it may not be the first knife I'd grab with me, if it was the only knife I had, I certainly wouldn't feel cheated.

No knowledgeable knife person would argue that a KABAR is a better knife than say a Busse SAR-6 and I would have been proud as a peacock to have one while I served but they weren't around and at 10x the price of a KABAR there wouldn't be many enlisted folks strappin' them on. Not every grunt had a Randall I can gauarandamntee that! I used to see invoicing on inventory I had in the armory and KABARS cost the Gubment about $17 or so. A brand spanking new M9 "was" about $279. A $400 Busse would be more than a toilet seat!

m249 is one hell of a weapon, does a good job in the right hands. thats my opinion:cool:

not gonna derail the thread but i respectfully disagree. as someone who has spent alot of time with the weapons system i believe its flawed in that the 5.56 round doesnt have the charge neccessary to reset the bolt reliably. this makes sutained rates of fire impractical after about 50-60 rounds at my estimate. the change to 7.62x51 fixes that problem and makes it a more reliable weapons system. while a simple tug of the chargeing handle is enough to fix most jams thats way to much time in an actual engagement. again this is just my personal experience.

Yes. Anyone who has been in army of any kind knows that you really don't want to take your fancy high end knife with you. Rolling around in crap, sand, bushes and who know what will make your knife look quite less glamorous than being locked in drawers. :D
That being said, I would take randall if I went to army.. many wouldn't though.

I almost get a charge out of these.

The troll baits the thread, then goes fishing.

Always plenty of guppies to take the bait.

But with thousands of posts in the combined brain trust on this forum, I am surprised how many they hook.

For me, these posts go with the classic "Busses/Sebbies/Striders aren't worth the money", along with "I broke my Becker, what a POS", and "Kershaw... their customer service, what a joke" threads.

Well said.

Well, don't try to do anything except open Amazon boxes with a D2 and it's ok. The tip is super chippy.
