Does the knife I'm looking for exist?

Contego looks great on paper but the moment you hold it in your bare hand you will regret purchasing it. The ergo is off and the gimpings will destroy your hand unless you wear a glove. I tried two and sold both soon after. Presidio ii 570-1 would be a much better choice.
Agree about the full-size Presidio II, great knife, largish blade, not too pricey.

I really dig the native chief but my main concern with sypdies is how thin the tips are. I've broken tips in the past and am looking for something more robust.

I don’t want to sound as a broken record and I read about requirement #7, but Sitivien knives, including the Axis lock models I suggested, have really robust tips. Look up their top-down view pictures on the great river site.
I am not receiving any fees for recommending them, I just recently discovered this brand and like it very much.

I decided to go for the presidio 2. I got it for a good price on an early boxing day sale, and it seems to be a pretty good suited knife and blade shape for what I'm looking for. I'm very excited for it to arrive

L littleknife thanks for the recoommendation about Sitivien, I checked them out and they have some good looking kmives no doubt! I was looking for a bit more of a high end knife in this case, but I will keep that company in mind if I need a beater in the same style.

Hogue X5

The Ritter RSK is a bit on the smaller range at 3.5"
But checks every other box. AND helps a great knife cause.

Benchmade Crooked River or Presidio II

Spyderco YoJumbo

The following knives are made in China, but are of relatively good quality:
Sitivien ST109, Sitivien ST110, Sitivien ST124.
Allegedly the Axis locks work fine.

Looks like if there's a sale on Amazon (and where else would you buy them) the quality may be compromised. Just got a 109 and there are multiple issues, and there's no more stock for replacement I'd imagine it's been discontinued. It was deeply discounted but if it's used or refurbished I think it should be clearly labelled as such, this is the second company on Amazon that has pulled something like this and I don't know if anyone else there realizes it tarnishes their reputation. It's understandable why people would avoid Chinese knives when these guys pull something like this even if some others are decent.

Big 4" Wharncliffe with those requirements sounds like a Spyderco Yojumbo to me.

I would definitely recommend it, as long as you don't mind a lot of pocket space being taken up.

One thing I really like about it, if I know I'm going to be cutting up some food, the tall blade design and handle lends itself to pinch gripping. I always grab this knife if I know I'm going to be cutting up some food.
