Except that his proposed solution will not work. The critical relationship on the PM2 pivot is that the thick portion of the pivot has to be just the slightest bit wider than the thickness of the blade. If it's narrower, the blade will get pinched between the washers regardless of how thick or thin they are, since they ride on the thinner outer ends of the pivot and butt up against the thicker center portion of it. In that case, the only ways to fix it would be to either thin the blade tang, or replace the pivot with one that's wider.Looks like I have to take a supplementary evening course in English, since only mkjellgren understood what I was asking. The rest of the discussion is based on other people's replies about the uselessness of pivot bushings and what have you.
Basically correct, except for the washer part, although calling the PM2 stepped pivot (which has not changed) a bushing is a bit of a stretch, IMHO. A more accurate answer would be that either the thick central portion of the pivot is too narrow or the blade is too thick, whichever way you want to look at it, or else one or both washers are cupped toward the blade or have burrs on the blade side. The washers sit on the thinner, outer "steps" of the pivot, so their thickness (within reason) is unimportant as long as the sides facing the blade are smooth and flat. So, to summarize, the answer to the question was: "They did not stop making the para 2 with a pivot bushing. However, its implemented as a stepped pivot in the para 2, so it's not exactly like the Sebenza (if that was unclear). It seems like your pivot is too small or the blade and washers too thick, whichever way you want to look at it."
