Does this bother anyone else?

I currently own several CRKs, but have never EDC'd either of my Sebenzas until recently. I have been carrying my large 21 for about a month now, and for the most part, i love the knife. However, there is one thing that just bugs me pretty bad. When i open the knife, i notice a distinct metallic "clink" sound, which i have discovered to be a result of the lockbar sending vibrations through the clip. If i hold significant pressure against the clip when i open it, it makes more of a satisfying "cluck" sound when the lock engages. I know it is not a major issue, but it is just the kind of sound that makes me visualize a crack or loose part somewhere(which is definitely NOT the case). Am i just being way too anal, or does this bother anyone else?

I don't notice a metallic click sound on my small. I only hear the satisfying clunk of the lock. Do you use the pocket clip for carry? Maybe take it off if you don't.

I actually like the "click" sound. When I hear that on a sebenza, I KNOW its locked open. On the Umnumzaan, there is NO "click" sound and I find myself looking to make sure its locked open before I use it. I know its part of the zaan design, but I like the positive "click" of the sebbie more.

My two non-inlay Sebs make more and different noise than the one with inlays (easy to see why). If you want noisey, try snapping open a Military!

I especially dislike it when I stay up late, crawl in the bed, and my girlfriend starts complaining that I'm making to much noise opening the knife :)

Normally I like it, it sounds metallic and solid. Makes me know I'm holding a knife!!

Take the clip off and bend it so that it's a little tighter.

If the vibration of the clip bothers you when opening, maybe you can "adjust" it a little so it sit tighter on the lock bar. ;)

BTW I also love the solid cluck that you get when opening a sebbie up. You really know it's engaged :thumbup:

Yikes, flicking knives open while driving, while in bed with girlfriend - :) Man alive, you've got the CRK disease really bad! :D

My wife dislikes it when I crawl into bed, snuggle up against her, and she's wondering why my knife is...well, never mind.

Too funny.

LOL, your clip is just a little loose, man. It happens when they get a little snagged, and whatnot.

yep..just pop it off and bent it a hair so it sits a bit tighter on the lock bar...

i know exactly the sound your hearing, when i got mine, it was the same way...it bugged me too:rolleyes::D:D

Are we as consumers actually reduced to complaining about how a knife SOUNDS when it's opened?

No, I like the sound, reminds me that I tweaked to clip to make the seb easier to open, rather then the insane over tension the factory puts on them. :D

When you spend $400 on the knife and it makes a sound that it shouldn't make then yes that is a problem. I had a small 21 that made that twangy sound because the clip didn't have enough tension to keep it pushed against the lockbar when in the open position. It bothered the hell out of me. If I changed my grip or anything the clip would click under my hand as it made contact with the lockbar. Removing the clip and bending it to add more tension fixes the problem for sure.
