You dont see many like that but I would guess that it is legit. I have seen extra dimples, usually made by rockwell tests though. That one is in the perfect spot to be a test dimple though.

I was thinking it looks like somebody added a dot to misrepresent it as a Three-Dotter.

Not the case?

Is it just a Two-Dotter with a test stamp?

Anybody else want to venture a guess as to whether or not this is a legitimate Three-Dotter?

If you are looking for guesses, I'd say it's not, although why someone would want to change a 2 dot to a 3 dot baffles me.

Hard to tell.....I remember a thread a few years ago where somebody stated that there was a growth industry selling fake Three-Dotters.

I hadn't heard of that before that thread, but it made me look more carefully at the Three-Dotters I buy.

If this one is a fake it's certainly not well done, because that third dot is clearly different, so I'm guessing it was a dot that was added for some other reason, but we'll probably never know.

hungh?
joe said he thought it legit.
IN Fact he said it looks to be a (what i think would be) rare Rockwell test dot!
humm ... that could add value to it even used!
isit4salecheep asafake3doty?

Not disputing Joe but why on earth put it there where it would be mistaken for a third dot? If it's a test dimple, how would they do the three dot ones? Make a four dot out of it?

I have a whole bunch of Bucks and have never seen one with a test dimple. If someone has one, I'd be interested in seeing a picture of it.

Joe said the STAMP is legit, but maybe he meant that the extra large dot is a legit test stamp......he didn't state that the knife is a Three-Dotter.

Maybe he will clarify what he means.

I was quite serious when I said Special Olympics or ARC.

That's a worthy cause for some courageous people.

I appreciate your integrity.

I suggest you compare it side-by-side to a 2-dot if possible. Judging from the few examples that I have, the nail nick on the 3-dots is noticeably larger.

That's a good idea, Blue Sky.

I pulled the photo off the Bay and I don't remember if there were other pics that could be used to do that. I'll try to find it again. I wasn't intending on bidding on it.....although now that I've thought about it.....it might be an interesting oddity if that's a two dot with a test stamp.

If you're using a PC, it's the same as always. Click on the picture to enlarge it, right click on the picture and save as what ever you want. I just did this one for instance in just a couple of seconds.

Yes, I guess that's the way I did it. I hadn't been able to do it recently and then kept playing around with this one a little more and finally got it to save. The options you get on right-click seem different, but I finally found one that worked.

This could vary depending on your browser, too......I use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.
