Looks like a folding version of a Combat Smatchet. Nope, this does not exist in a folder.

Unless the handle can completely cover the blade while closed, it would not be a very good knife design.

The closest thing would be a Ryan Model 7. Sort a of parang blade style. I think that photo you have is a proto for the Applegate/Fairnbarn Combat folder Gerber produces. That would have been much nicer than what we actually got.

...the double-edged Butch Vallotton/ Bill Harsey handmade Applegate/Fairbairn folder that I have listed in the "For Sale" forum is very similar, and razor sharp on both sides...

(and much nicer than the Gerber version too...)

That being said, the drawing 'does' look like a prototype design for a folding mini-Smatchet, which would be Huge!

And agreed dogman, if the blade edge wasn't covered, it could be pretty darn nasty...
