I was all set to respond to the posting ,asking the excellent guestion, if members were sick of the fanboy ravings about the Sebenza, when I realized that the thread had been closed, although it was only started today for Pete's sakes!!!
What's going on? Is Chris Reeve royalty whose products cannot be critized despite the almost daily praises the Sebenza garners ?
Personally I think the Sebenza is a very pedestrian looking folder and I wouldn't buy it a quarter of the price. I just received the Pohl Force Alpha 3 black blade survival model which set me back about 200 clams, which I believe is about half the cost of a Sebenza. Now there's a badass folder worth raving about! The Alpha 3 would make any Sebenza it's bitch! [ if you're a very delicate individual, please replace the word b-tch with 'girlfriend']

He's credited with inventing the frame lock and introducing a great cutlery specific steel to the market, s30v.

Beyond that, I don't much care for him or his Sebenza. I like his fixed blade knives. The price for admission for a Sebenza is enough to get a custom knife.

the sebenza gets daily praise but also daily ridicule. Yes it is a popular knife and for good reason, it is well made and designed. But everybody's tastes differ, and we have just as many people on this forum who dislike sebenzas and praise stuff like cold steel instead as those whose treat sebenzas like they were forged by the gods.

Chris Reeve, Sypderco, Busse, Esee. What do they have in common? Criticizing any aspect of them causes a fanboy rage which, of course, gets nasty and is, of course, closed by mods. The problem is not the mods closing the thread, thats their job and they do it well. Its the guys who know flaming will cause the mods to lock the thread and use that fact as a method of censorship.

different strokes for different folks. Chris Reeve has a wealth of knowledge and experience making knives. i think its kind of hard to pass judgement on them without experiencing one first.

but from reading your OP it sounds like you have already made up your mind. oh well, more sebenzas for the rest of us. ;)

That last thread was just empty whining with no legitimate criticism. As an owner of a Sebenza, I can certainly see why people love the thing. I'm just not too crazy about the easily scuffed finish on the titanium, the pointed thumbstuds, and the relatively soft heat treatment of the steel. I also wasn't too happy when they told me I couldn't have the handles reblasted due to the engraving I had done on the handles, kinda wish they told me that before I paid for that service :-/.

Here we go Again...... Haven't we been down this road too many before??

The coldsteel spartan is 60 clams and would probably make the pohl force it's bitch.

Déjà vu all over again. ;) The sebenza has "fanboys" because it's well made and works very well. It's not perfect, but then again neither is any other knife. Like one of the other posters said, there is ample criticism of the Sebenza and other CRK knives - just search this site a bit. As always, if it doesn't do it for you, don't buy it.

P.S. There are plenty of knives that would make your Alpha 3 look like a crap too. Not exactly a robust argument. Nice job stirring the pot. :thumbdn:

Using your gorilla logic, you can buy a CS Recon or Lawman for a quarter of the price of the Alpha 3 and it would be just as strong and definitly more practical. I'm sure the other thread was closed because of trolls like you. Its ok to criticise a product, its not ok to just flame for no reason. Its obvious someone like you cant appreciate the finer qualities of a Sebenza like precision craftsmanship, tolerances, etc so there's no reason to argue with you. Enjoy your ninja asassin knife and have fun at the mall.

Haters gonna hate.

Nuthuggers gonna hug.

Trolling is as bad as the fanboy responses it gets.
