I recently acquired a bk2 (today as a matter of fact!) and picked up a little addition to the sheath for all of my survival kit needs. It cost me a whole whopping dollar at a garage sale! Dont know how i will make it retain in the little pocket, still working on that. Its pretty big, but will fit everything i need in it, and doesnt really add much additional weight. What do you guys think?

Congrats on the 2. Really doesn't matter what we think, do you like it? Serve your needs? Then it's great! I have a pouch attached to my 2 sheath as well. I like it, but it does tend to bump into things.

If it works, it works. Like Warrior said, it's your choice. I probably wouldn't put anything that large on mine unless I was putting extra cordage in there to, but again, your choice, it doesn't seem all that bad, so long as it stays with weight.

All that matters is that YOU like it. And you can always upgrade later. When I quit the paranormal research biz (long story) several years back and got back into the outdoors I sold a shit-ton of equipment to jump start my preps and my gear. I couldn't get everything I wanted right away but I found stuff that worked. Then slowly as time went on you get a new this, you upgrade to a new that, you sell/trade something, you buy more. It's more important that you HAVE a survival kit with the 5 C's in it than what it looks like.

Besides....making your own stuff is the fun part!

I like it. I think it would look good lashed on your pack.
Love those garage sale bargains!
Congrats on the BK-2!!

What he said. It really doesn't matter as long as you like it and it works for you. That's one of the nice things about Becker knives, you can modify them to work with you.

To the OP, it's all about functionality. If it works for you, then by definition it can't look dumb. :-)

Now THAT sounds like an interesting story. I'd love to hear it sometime.

Whoa! Clicked on the middle picture and got a virus warning from my firewall. WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Other than that, sure it's a little big. But it's yours, it's functional, and you can do what you want! Who give a sh*t what others think of it??? :D

Some of the best gals I've ever dated looked dumb.I'd say it looks useful.:)

Not that it matters what I think, but I think that's an AWESOME rig... I'd rather have enough room to carry everything I need (within reason) rather than having to pare down because of a lack of space and leave some essentials behind. So are there any markings or tags that identify your garage sale score?

Looks fine to me. Nessmuk had his knife sheath sewn to his possibles bag which is about the same thing you have here. Minus the shoulder strap.

In a nutshell...I was a Paranormal Investigator back before all those stupid-ass TV shows came along and ruined everything. After the "Ghost Hunters" show came about, the amount of people trying to do it increased 1000%. Not only did everybody start copying the retarded methodolgy of what they saw on TV, where there used to be two or three groups per state, now there are upwards of 80 per state, null of noobs trying to play "scientist" and "professional". Beyond that, where once there were mostly legitimate cases, now they are all people who A) Are paranoid and have seen too much TV...or B) Think that stuff is "cool" and want to see a live show at their house. Secondly, with the field not overly saturated with a bunch of dipshits with IR Thermometers and AC EMF meters that they think are "ghost detectors", EVERYBODY who did it now looks like idiots. Everybodys credibility is shot. So I had to quit.

I do have as many crazy experience stories as Beckerheads have knives.

I would get tired of it from time to time....either because I wanted to get back to wilderness stuff, or tired of "problems" caused by annoying shit you can't see. The Paranormal Research field is now completely taken over by dipshits and wanna-be-famous types. Not for me. More interested in 3D wilderness skills and survival.

There are other ways to explore the bigger world that have a LOT more interesting results. I had a lot of neat things happen to me starting around this time last year. I found a way to greatly increase natural abilities everyone has. THAT is a little too far down the rabbit hole for a knife forum. What I will say is that I got there with a huge stack of "Nootropics" (Google it). I just started back on them a few days ago. I forgot how much better it is than caffiene in the morning....

Sorry for the thread hijack...just answering a post.

So I had to google this because it seems every instructor needs to have their own way of conveying the basics. Is this the 5 c's you're referring to?

Cutting tool
Container
Combustion
Cover
Cordage

If it is I'd abondon this person for survival instruction. There is a glaring omission here and it's something that you may actually deploy before any other gear(besides clothing) and could make the most difference between life and death. Anyone guess what it is?

Cell Phone

I've been actively involved in search and rescue for the last 17 years (EMS before that), and I've seen a HUGE difference in the number of call outs due to everyone having a cell phone.
Even if someone doesn't know where they are, they can be usually talked down to a place (mentally fnd physically) were a find is a chip shot.
