Does throwing a Busse void the warranty?

When I get my anniversary Steel Heart I was wondering If I could use it as a thrower now and then and not void the warranty if anything happened. I just want to be able to do anything with the knife and though I know it won't break or chip I still would like to be on the safe side. Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't worry.

You should see what Cobalt does with his Busses!!

Their warranty is unconditional.

LOL, I have thrown my hollow rivet SHBM well over 15,000 times and it has never broken. I have also pried it out many times with no issue. I have never tried to break it, it was just normal use, so it's covered:D

I have thrown my FBM and its been good every time. I really havent done that with my other Busses but they seem to hold up.

I can't find it right now, but Jerry posted on this subject in the not too distant past. He has quite a bit to say about throwing blades, and did make the point that these are not throwing knives. I just don't understand why they throw so well if they aren't meant to fly.;) :D

Not true, but very very close to being true :D

Busse warrantee's against all "unintentional" major damages.

By unintentional - the specifically mean that you did not intentionally modify your knife in a manner that changes or damages its initial geometry or heat treatment. In doing so, you change the product into something that busse has not tested, and cannot be sure of its ability to sustain under normal or major stresses.

SO - as long as you have not taken a hacksaw or torch to your blade and modified the geometry or heat treat in any major way, you can do whatever you want to it. throwing it, bussting out glass, batoning, whatever, as long as the knife "is as it was from the factory" it is warrantee'd against any major damages incurred on it.

That being said, if you did modifiy it and it breaks in a way that is completely unrelated to the modification (say you make it fully convex instead of saber ground) and a handle scale breaks off - they will replace or fixed the damaged part as long as the damaged part was unmodified.

Its the only stipulation in the busse warranty; that you not do any major modifications to the knife that would cause it to fail under stress, but its an important one.

lol..... One more thing to add: just because the warranty covers an action doesn't necessarily make it safe or wise :D

Do not be suprised when your busse breaks under extreme stress, such as vise+pipe bends, or throwing it into concrete (I'd be interested in seeing what happens with that one). Busse's can take unbeleivable amounts of stress, but everything breaks at some point.

I think someone even shot a swamp rat with a 30.30 rifle onetime and it was replaced.
ask Eric...he'd know or remember!

I could be wrong but I think it was an aught six, and I do recall reading that it took two rounds. Also, that knife was replaced under warranty. So I would venture to say that throwing an SHI would be fully covered by warranty, but that still does not make it safe to do.

Ive thrown my SJT, I wouldnt do it over a hard surface. Throw it at wood and if it falls on dirt, no sweat.

I just wanna see somepne try to throw Jerry......;)

Bet me some INFI and I could do it. I don't know if I could make him stick in anything though.:p I launched a buddy of mine that's 245lbs over the hood of his car once. I could definitely launch Jerry if INFI motivated :D.

It was a Battle Rat and it took two shots from a 30-30 to break it.......(not a 30'06) because the first shot didn't do it.....

.

245, that's a lite weight compared to Boss Hogg. I have seen him thrown. Well he was thrown into the bar at 'THE PIT'!!
He seemed to stick in there pretty well:D

Good points! I'd hate to have to ask a doc to pry a piece of INFI out of my old carcass.

Thanks for pointing out the key word 'unintentional' in the warranty. Sometimes...I make unwarranted assumptions about people's...understanding.

So Boss.... how much are we need'n to be able to throw???

This could be a great competition.... The Boss Toss!

Winner gets a BA and a chance throw Amy-O?? (don't worry Amy, we'll catch you!:D )

Haha, I was shitfaced when I threw my friend. I know I could handle more than that :D. Probably not more than 300lbs though:p . I threw him when he swung on me after I took his keys so he couldn't drive. He was a bit more inebriated than I, it was the 4th of July. Probably the WORST time to even think of driving out here. Police checkpoints EVERYWHERE. That's why you have your Girlfriend drive you ;).

My bad on the caliber, should have looked it up before I posted it.

I am astonished, not only that the knife was replaced, but by the fact that it took two rounds to break the knife.
That is just unreal.

Thanks for correcting me.
