Does You Guys Have Weekend Knives ?

I work in an office Monday through Friday, which kind of dictates what type of knife I feel comfortable carrying during the week. It's usually something on the smaller side, like a pen, half whittle, swayback of 34OT. I was considering getting something a bit larger for on the weekends.... probably something to wear in a belt sheath. Maybe something along the lines of Queen/S&M mountain man. So do you guys have certain knives that get carried on the weekend? If so, what are they.

No, I usually carry the same knives no matter what day it is. But then most of my edc knives are 3 1/4 overall or less. Victorinox Bantam, Case peanut. If I'm going woods rambling, there's a Frost's Mora number 1 with a laminated blade in my bag. That thing seems to handle anything that can't be done with a pocket knife.

Carl.

Since I'm gainfully unemployed, I carry what I want throughout the week. However, instead of work and home knives, I rotate them according to where I'll be.

Some knives are good for going to town, grocery shopping, post office, restaurants etc.

Others more suitable for walks out here in the woods, rural roads, working around the property etc.

No end of excuses for different patterns to come into play. (Works for me, anyway.)

Of course, if all else fails, a stockman or cattle knife of one size or another will always fit the bill.:cool:

If I know that I'm going to be doing some hard use around the yard at home I'll swap to something more sturdy. That sometimes includes a fixed blade or even a non traditional folder. Not that most my traditionals are weak but I would prefer to not develop blade wobble if I can help it.

I can relate to that. I usually have at least 2 folders on me at any given time. Regardless of what the 'others' are, a stockman is ALWAYS among them. Sometimes, even the 'secondary' is a stockman too, maybe just a smaller one.

I'm glad to hear that someone else ocassionally carries two Stockmans. I was beginning to think I had gone off the deep end.

I only carry my nicest knife if I'm wearing jeans or cords, any pants where the pockets open horizontally.
Not much chance of a knife falling out of jeans. For slacks or short where the pockest open vertically and
splay out when I sit, I'll go to my less expensive every day knives.

Yep, Can't carry anything too big through the week.

Today I am carrying my ESEE 3. Can't do that through the week at work.

I generally carry a Buck 301, but I've been busting out a Buck 307 on the weekends now and again. With camping season opening back up I'll be running around with a Vic Super Tinker in my pocket and a Buck 110 on my belt. I may even step up to a Buck 105 or 119 this year.

My usual carry knifes are either a GEC Cuban stockman or a 3-7/8" lockback (I have three different ones that fill this bill) or a #73 Tidioute jack with large spey and pen blades. My Sunday "go-to-meeting" or other special occasion knife is either an '80s era Buck trapper in MOP or my recently gifted Kane Cutlery swayback jack.

Besides these I have knives in drawers or on end tables or desks of just about every room in the house, so even though I have a knife on me, if I'm sitting at a desk or my easy chair, I don't even have to reach in my pocket for a knife.

Yes, maybe not a weekend knife due to working rotating shifts but a off work knife. I enjoy knifes and due to working with chemicals and other things that wear on a knife I have working knifes and off work knifes.

It seems that with out meaning to I do have a weekend knife, throughout the week I carry a case yellow medium stockman and on the weekends switch up to a case large amber bone stockman. Though sometimes it gets switched, but thats the way it been the last couple of weeks.

So do you guys have certain knives that get carried on the weekend? If so, what are they.

The company for which I work has a rule that controls knife size.
Max blade length = <2"
Max opened length =< 4 1/2"

This means I can't even carry a Case peanut legally at work. In the evening and on weekends I get to carry larger knives. At the moment, I'm still partial to the GEC dogleg jack, though often a 4" stockman sneaks in.

I thought keeping us in line was a full time job for you and Gus. ;)

I typically carry whatever suits my mood and/or needs on any given day. If I'm getting dressed in a suit or something I will carry something a little smaller though.

Well, it is...but considering the salary we're receiving from you guys...gainfully unemployed sounded better than "on relief". ;)

:D

I have a weekend knife rotation. During the week I've been carrying a 2 3/4" pocket hunter. When I get home from work, the pocket hunter goes in the drawer and out comes GEC dogleg jack or Case 62032 jack.

Being unfornately unemployed I get to carry whatever I want right now. that's is basically the only good thing I have found.

i use the same knife. either my starbenza or delica. i clip in it in the inner pocket in my dress slacks.

Let's keep the discussion to "Traditional Knives" please...
