I have used Kelty and Ruffwear, Ruffwear seemed to be better quality that the Kelty.

The one I have and I think all designs are this way is basically a regular dog harness with pouches. There is one chest strap and two underbelly straps. It is also important to evenly weight the two sides. Since there is only weight on the sides and not evenly all around there is no reason for it to slide. Similar to saddlebags.
