Nick, you might look into one of those electronic fences. Not sure how it works, except you put a small receiver on the dogs collar and he gets a shock if he gets too close. I've seen it work.

I'm "actively looking" for a good home for Shadow

He is quite the shop helper!!! I was laying on the floor setting to jack up the 100# Little Giant to move it, and he decided it was a good place to hang out.

I'm pretty sure he's smiling!

He's still here. The husky adoption places told me I'd have to "host him" here since they don't have anywhere to put him... which works pretty well for me cuz I've definitely gotten used to him "helping" me out in the shop.

It was kind'a hard to see the bolt and wrenches with his head right in front of my face! But how can you not love a dog wanting to be that close???

And just so there's a pic with two good looking subjects... I stayed behind the camera on this one! I sure love 'em both!

Just for the record, I got a pm about "choke chains." While I personally think a snap chain or choke chain can have it's place in training... We do NOT have one on him in the pictures. It's just a leash that has chain on the last 24" or so.

I told Angi that I think Shadow looks like a draft horse getting ready to take off with a big carriage or trailer in that last photo, and she said, "That's what it felt like too!!!"

That's a beautiful dog and I'm sure you're tempted to respect his love for you and your home.

For what it's worth:

When I was a kid, we had malamutes. A lot of malamutes. As in, with puppies, we had 17 at one point.

For some reason, they liked being chained much better then being fenced in.
