My experience with a dogfather was it chopped well and was extremely comfortable. What I also noticed is with the fairly robust convex edge I put on my friends DF it popped hair like crazy, but after a little chopping and batoning, that all ended. It continued to chop pretty well even as the knife dulled, but by the very end of the marathon session the entire blade would barely cut my skin if i sawed at it besides the area closest to the choil. Not a single chip or ding, VERY tough steel, but the edge didn't hold up nearly as well as INFI does. It's definitely tough steel though, and if SY releases another run of them or another chopper I'd buy one at factory prices for sure.
You noticed that about INFI huh?
It seems to hold an edge forever, even after hard chopping and battoning.![]()
I think in some cases it sharpens itself. I had an NMFBMLE that took down a small hardwood at about 7" and when I was done, I swear it was sharper than when I began.
Wish I didn't get rid of that one :grumpy:
Seems like most really regret Selling their NMFBM's, I know mine will be the last to go if I ever had to sell all of my collection.![]()
I don't!
it's a wonderful knife, but if your trimming down the herd to the bare minimum it exists between a series of equally awesome knives. everytime I think "man... should I try for another nmfbm?" I pick up the kz and tank buster, and my desire's assuaged.
Does anyone have a green blade with tan micarta handle? I'd like to see that color combo, as well as black micarta with a green blade.
