Doggy Pics:

Here's my buddy Code. We have no idea what he is, but the "official" line from the shelter was "Husky/Shepherd Mix". In Dog Years, he recently passed me up age-wise.

Happy & Dapper.

Code is a beautiful dog. Your house must be as hairy as mine though.:D My Sheppard/Collie mix sheds like it's going out of style and the Coon hounds hair is so short they look like eyelashes. I love my Mixed dog but he'll be the last long haired dog I get most likely.:o:(

"Buddy" is actually my avatar. Our family has had dog's since I was born (45 yr's ago) He's the best dog I've ever had.
He think's he's four times his size, last summer while on our priairie walk he chased off a black and chocolate lab by biting the chocolate lab in the cheek and the black lab in the back side. All we saw and heard was tails and yip's as the two of them bolted away. He's truly is an Alpha Male.
Dogs are great aren't they?

Thank you for the kind words. :) I don't think it's bragging to admit that he is a head-turner- because I really can't take any credit for it. I just lucked into a great dog who is also playful and good-natured.

OilMan- I know exactly what you mean. You don't have to look too hard at those pics to see the layer of carpet on top of the carpet. Code is a hair machine! He also gets a little help from the three cats. When we buy our house, there will be hardwood floors.

Paul- Code is my avatar, too. That pic is from about 5 years ago when he was about 8 or 9 months old. He still hasn't grown into those ears. Do you have any other pics of Buddy to post?

Well, Sophie is no longer a show dog contender - she has been spayed and Dancer has destroyed her show coat, head fall, mustache and beard. Dancer aka Mongo is now 10 months old. He is quite handsome and one darn good looking Lhasa Apso. Sophie thinks she is a drama queen and is just oh so melodramatic and prances around like she's the queen of something - don't know what. But here they are.

I would like to enter them into a WWF tag team dog wrestling competition because they spend so much time wrestling I'm sure they could beat somebody.

This is Sayde's Hard Cyder... Cyder for short. She will retrieve until her heart explodes if you let her. Nothing makes her tail wag more then seeing a shotgun come out of the safe. This pic was taken with minimal staging. I was getting my stuff together for a duck hunt and she went over and laid own with her paw over the gun, like she was saying "Not with out me, you won't." I just put the coat over her.

This image reminds of of the guy who was hunting ducks with his dog.
He shot the duck, landed on the other side of a fence at the end of his property, the man put the gun down as he went to climb over the fence, the dog stepped on the rifle and it discharged onto his leg.:D:D

TX907- Do they have names? :D

My family had two Westies while I was growing up. My Mom absolutely loves the breed. She and Dad are both retired, empty-nesters now, but they still think they can't get a dog.:( Instead, the living room is decorated in a "Westie" motif. ( Little statues, embroidered pillows, stuffed animals, etc.)

I understand that the Westie breed originated from the Cairns. That is easy to see in your picture.

T Schloz- Cassie is adorable. You can see a lot of personality in just that one pic. :)

The westie is Maguire and he is our 3rd westie. The cairn is Bowie and is a rescue dog - we have fostered several cairns.

Supposedly, the rough original terrier breed of this size from the isles were all different colors, but someone started exclusively breeding the white versions and they became a separate standard. All the others remained cairns (brindle, wheaten, red, etc.). Now the westies are a little larger and definitely have some different personality traits.

Bowie is a little killer - the prey drive in him is VERY strong. He has killed birds, possums, squirrels, etc. Before we got him he had supposedly decimated some poultry populations.

Below is an older picture of my wife and our two previous westies Aislinn and Shasta on a camping trip. Shasta was also a rescue dog.

Here's the old Collie, Cowboy (standing) and his apprentice Trigger (lying down).

Cowboy has been gone for about 2 years now. He brought 12 years of great companionship to our family.

Yes, he is a lhasa apso, this is the first small dog I have ever had, and I would definitely get this breed again, he's a great watch dog, always lets us know when someone is pulling in the driveway, he is a lover! loves to be loved!

I keep him cut and he doesn't shed one bit of hair, he's such a great dog.
I got him from some neighbors that raised Lasha's

Lhasa Apsos were originally breed in Tibet as guard dogs to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Monasteries. Their hearing is fantastic and announcing intruders or strange noises or visitors is their job. I've had Lhasas for 20 years and I love an stuck on this breed.

That is cool that you got a lover. Most are pretty aloof - like a cat. They will allow a minimum time for attention, but would rather just be near you. My youngest, Dancer, the black one, is a lover and he will snuggle up next to me or across my laps for long periods of time.

I love the puppy cut you have Leo in. He looks great. Your neighbors must have some nice Lhasa Apsos they are breeding.
