Doglegs, Sowbellies, and other “animal” patterns

Here are some from my Tuna Valley collection that fit right in for this thread.
1. Sunfish
2. Moose
3. Tadpole
4. Muskrat

Why am I now thinking of Kentucky Mule? :D No ginger beer in the house...:(

Years ago, I think Schatt & Morgan had a knife they called a Wildcat Driller

Since reptiles are admitted...

Viper!

How about the birds of the air (and land and sea) ? Are they welcome?

Flock of White Owls

Wow, impressive. I love both of those patterns, but I wasn't sure whether to consider them "animals" since the names are unique to GEC rather than across makers. But at this point everyone's having too much fun to worry about such distinctions. Plus, who can argue with such fine looking specimens!?

Good point, they are names given by GEC but this may in the future become the names of similar patterns. I think Muskrat gets its name not for specifically skinning Muskrats but because in the past it became associated as the skinning knife via adverts.

Names may be local/regional. I believe that in Australia there was a pattern referred to as a Bunny Knife which looks like a Barlow type to me.

Here's Queen Cutlery's Dogleg in WCSB, quite a lot different from GEC's dog...

I like Elephant's toenail. It's a expensive pattern for whatever reason. It's a shame even rough rider discontinued the pattern.

I don't own one but here is a pic of a rough rider one. I believe it was mainly used for cutting rope. I like big knives, so I like big traditional's. People from the UK love the pattern too as its still legal there. I don't know why there isn't a bigger market for the pattern.

How about a dead skunk lambsfoot from Darren's photoshop thread?

Thanks very much, a Parliament of Fowles as Chaucer said.

Never seen more than one real Owl at a time, interesting thought, they're not social types :D Maybe that's why the Ancient Greeks revered them?

My favourite is the top one, stainless Light Tan (the colours are inaccurate in the pic due to the dominance of red) one of Five made. Maybe I have the only one outside America?

Regards, Will
