Dogs I have known - rescues - new homes and friends

thanks - funny thing about the reward - the reward is getting to help more dogs -- LOL -- the hard part is not talking most of them home - like this lil guy and his sister

this older guy below went to a lady in New Jersey with some land that takes in older dogs and makes sure they live safe and healthy as possible till the end - a really wonderful person

It is likely that the only reason Man was put here on earth was to protect and love dogs. At least that would make sense. ;)

Very cool! I complain..in fun..about my dogs all the time but I would fight to the death if anyone tried to hurt them. Thank you.

Amen - at least one of the better reasons

good work you do man, I take all I can but it takes something special to do what you do.

I hope the universe rewards you for your love.

Actually it is more accessible than I originally thought. One only has to contact one of the transport groups . They keep an email list and every week (usually) they send out emails to everyone. The route is divided usually into one hour (drive time) legs. Whoever is available to drive a given leg of the journey signs up to do so.

so if the legs is an hour drive figure 2 and a half for the drive and time to switch dogs to the other cars. I usually spend 3 maybe four hours on a Saturday or Sunday (time depends on traffic etc. etc.)

Checkout my friend Rhonda's website to get a better idea - she mainly covers east coast I-95 corridor from GA to NJ

There are groups all over that cover different areas - short and long distance - almost always on weekends -- I am disabled so I am free to do stuff during the week when emergencies come up. On weekends whole families get together as well as a lot of couples. Two or three car loads of dogs so 4 or 6 cars meeting at each stop to walk and transfer the dogs.

if you like dogs it can be a blast but warning - I have fallen in serious love in that one hour car ride and had a hard time letting the dog get to the next car.

Anyone interested let me know I can send you info on the different groups

Thank you sir from the bottom of my heart for all you do for our furry friends!! I have yet to know a person that shows any type of cruelty to a dog, that is a good person in any other way as well.

This is probably my most proud set of pistol grips. Made them for one of my Sgts stepdad's down in California. He was really into Springers? or Pointer maybe. We became very good friends although we only met a few times. He got them at Christmas as I recall and Sarge said he cried his eyes out when he saw them. Mission accomplished. Got pictures.

He sadly passed on a couple years ago. Sarge got one half of the grips and gave me one half back.

I keep meaning to make another set just like them for myself but ain't got around to it yet.

Here's my little Border Terrier that some fool abandoned in town along with her sister when they was about 3 weeks old.
I took her and a detective sgt took the sister. Little live wire, never slows down, hard to get a picture, she won't sit still. She's about 9 months old now and still puppy hyper.

Our code officer is also a devout dog lover so when she encounters them it's pretty much a dept wide effort to find the owner if they are lost or find a proper new home. Don't recall a single one ever being put down that could be saved.

Nothing compared to BFH44's efforts but every little bit helps I reckon.

Bwanna,
That is one feisty looking Terrier you have there.:thumb up: Gotta love those Terriers, They have attitude!
Reminds me of my Irish Terrorist that was by side and watched my back for over 16 years through thick & thin.
She was a rescue too.

She went to the Dog Park in the Sky some five years ago and I still have her collar and tags tacked up on my bulletin board next to where I'm sitting now.

Thats not a collar you see in the pic. Hes wearing a holster for his 1911 and an IBBBB. Hes a handsome proud looking lil bugger! I can only imagine the personality he sports! I bet he jumps up in your lap and rolls belly up so you can reload him and sharpen his AKB:D

Great compassion and dharma work, BFH44

The down side is at night she things I'm a dang trampoline. She like to sleep right between my knees, and usually I can't even tell she's there until I try to roll over. She get up and dance around and then go chase the cat or something, I'll take advantage of that moment to roll or reposition. Fall asleep again only to have her come jumping back on me.

Even a little Terror jumpin on your belly when your asleep can put the hurt on ya.

I cuss her an awful lot but I guess in a nice way.

You are doing great things. I thank you for helping these dogs.

Saving one rescue dog won't change the world, but the world will surely be changed for that rescued dog.
