Dogwood Trade Knife
total length 13-1/4"
blade length 8"
handle length 5-1/4"
blade convex ground 1/8" 0-1 with satin finish swedge 3-3/8" from tip
handle cocobolo and red g-10 over a pencil thin blue liner. natural micarta pins (3 at 1/8") and 1/4" lanyard tube

For Christmas this year my boys got a book of historic knives for me, one that I kept coming back to was a "trade knife" from the early French colonization of America. The dimensions wear very much like my grizzly, and the knife always seem to be in the back of my mind. Being one to know when the universe is trying to tell me something I sat down with the feed back from the grizzly and combined it with this trade knife pattern to make this camp knife. I prefer the satin finish of this blade for my working knives because it gives a clean look without highlighting every day wear, with a hight line convex grind and O-1 steel it is truly a working knife. In keeping with It's classic inspiration I wanted to stick with a wood handle, and I have been saving this cocobolo with it's tight complex grain for something special. The natural micarta pins and lanyard tube blend nicely with the handle allowing the wood it's due place as the center of attention. In true Dogwood fashion This is a classic blade benefiting from modern technology

SOLD $250 SOLD includes hand stitched pouch sheath (dangle style) with brass hard wear. free shipping in lower 48

Very cool, I have a knife that keeps beckoning mr like that one, a Larry walker in 3/32 and an 8 inch blade. I call it my frontier butcher knife.
