Darrel's new deep pocket clip will look good on the Dominator!

I can't wait to get mine!

Sweeet!!! Looks like a cutter what with the high grind. Hope the edge bevel is not too thick. Still waiting for mine!!!!! Waiting is such sweet sorrow!

Mannn that knife sure is beutyfull...but on the pic on the camillus site the handle looked much darker?

Max,
That is one of the reasons I put up these pics. These are quick pics of one of the first PRODUCTION models. The DOMINATORS on our website are early proto's.....this is what they actually look like. Well, at least in my crappy pics:rolleyes: Terrill should have us some good pics today......

Thanks for the interest!

We have a winner in the next knife I am going to buy contest, the Dominator. Thanks Will, very nice knife

I guess the original report that the spring could be removed is superceded no longer holds true? :(

Is the backspacer/spring necessary for assembly/functionality, or just for looks?

Thanks :)

Biogon,
There is no backspacer, and the spring is inside the frame. If you remove the "spring" the knife won't re-assemble correctly. It was bad information on my part very early in the design of the knife. The design has changed since we first started discussing it here on BF.

Very kewl knife...very different assisted opening mechanism. I bet you are going to like it the way it is:)

Will,

Thanks for the quick info!

Ahh... I know, I know... I would've bought it in a flash... it's got just about everything that makes it an ideal EDC... but the assisted opening's just not my cuppa. And I'm in the bad habit of carrying tip-up knives (I know I can have this one converted, but a tip-up assisted-opener scares me even more...)

I like having the control of a manual, and I'm particularly leery of triggering an assisted opener among the sheeple. :(

Perhaps when y'all release a manual one... :(

Thanks again. :)

Will could you post some pics of the back and front of the knife(so we could see the frame lock),an what it looks like folded?

The production dominator doesn't have the thumb stud recess on scale as shown in pre-production photo. I guess it's a cost issue.

xwan,
We decided to leave the groove leading to the thumbstud off on the current DOMINATOR for 2 reasons....

1. By leaving it off, it encourages users to use the flipper, which is the way DDR designed the knife to be used. The "thumbstuds" are primarily blade-stop studs, not opening devices.

2. IF and WHEN we make a manual action only version of the DOMINATOR, we will put the thumb-grooves on the frame, and customers will be able to recognize an assisted version from a manual version.

Kevtan,
I'm not sure what you mean.....can you describe the "tongue" on the lock bar you are refering to?

Darrel designed both knives, and I will say that they are very similar in the lock area, which we think is a very good thing:)

Guys,
I'll try to get some more pics tomorrow....Thanks for your interest!

Will, the lockbar tongue goes into the cutout in the middle part of the blade. The cutout is visible when closed, just beside the pivot in the top part of the handle.
