Don Fogg News

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I am back home and on the mend. Need some down time though. I appreciate the communities support.

Don - I wish you the best of recoveries from Paris. I'm sorry to hear you were sick.

Don, I hope you have a complete and quick recovery! You have touched a lot of lives, and have many friends you do not know.
Hang in there, we are thinking of you.

Hey Don,

Was thinking about you a couple months ago. Sorry to hear you ran into some trouble but at least you're on your way to a full recovery. Prayers sent, get well soon.

Glad to hear Don's doing well. He was one of the people I used to look forward to seeing when he used to come to the NY shows. Speedy recovery!

Just received from Don:

I regret to say that this will be my last email to the list.

I have maintained contact with you via Constant Contact, but as of this email, I am going to stop using the list.

Recently I have had some serious physical problems that force me to recognize that I am no longer going to maintain an active full time business. I know it isn't like I have been flooding the market these past few years, but in my heart I felt like it was still possible.

Now I am forced to accept the fact that this beautiful career has come to an end. I am grateful to all of you for your support over the years. It has been an amazing life and I feel blessed.

Of course you can never really retire from something that you love and I do intend to continue teaching, writing and making the occasional piece as time and energy permit, but in a very limited capacity. Now is time for me to regain my strength and health so I can enjoy my wife and family.

Thank you all for your support and interest in my work.

Sincerely,

Don Fogg

I also received the above email from Don. I agree that it is a sad day for the knife community if Don stops making knives. It has been a pleasure to listen to him talk about knives or to see him in action. Hopefully when he is healthier, he can continue to share his great knowledge of knives and steel.

It is of course much more important that he regain his health and be able to enjoy his wife and family.

Best wishes and thanks Don.

:rolleyes:Looks like I'm late on reporting this.

It may be sad that his regular list is cancelled, but it's good to hear that he will still be around doing "his thing."

Who knows, perhaps I'll run into him one of these days.:)

I received Don's email and it saddens me greatly. Don has had an amazing career, much of it before people really realized the greatness that was in front of them.

I'm proud to know you Don and the times you spent in my shop were some of the highlights of my life. You're a pioneer and an inspiration.
