Don Fogg's Yakuza Bowie II

Thanks for the bump on this one
one of my favorites from Don hapy for another look!

Anyone know who owns this one??? Thanks,

Pete

One of the things I like about Forums such as this is that it gives collectors and makers the ability to display their knives for all to see. It also in many cases allow collectors to keep track of in which collections perticular special knives reside.

So many wonderful knives are tucked away in private collections for none to see. I have made attemps to get in touch with the owner of a perticular Hancock Hunter for several years now.

In case any of you folks wonder were the small dots came from in the hamon, that was old Don sweating blood with this blade... Old man Fikes;)
This is a great blade,a GREAT knife.
Always happy to see this one again, thanks for bumping it Pete.

I'd love to own this one. I love the workmanship, the design, the historical influence and the overall "cool factor"....

Pete

Why not e-mail Don regarding your interest in the piece and ask him to forward it to the owner?

Roger

Jimmy - was the difficulty in the thickness of the blade? I've had troubles myself getting nice hamon lines in 1/4"+ thick 1095. Real easy for heat to leech back to the edge. Looks like it got pretty close in two areas.

and once again, anyone know where it is?????

Your naked desire for the piece is EXACTLY why I don't post my stuff on the internet.

If the owner wanted to be known....they probably would be.

I don't understand what you're saying. That you don't want to be bothered with offers from interested potential buyers?

Pretty much....but if it is someone who knows me...and they are interested.....they are free to mention it........however, someone out of nowhere.....no...."don't want to be bothered"......at all.

Dan,

Jimmy's online now and then, but he hasn't posted in BFC for a little while. Thinking it may be due to his move into a new house (there's a hammer-crazy guy in the old one) or his move from bladesmithing to ironworking.

I'm hoping his wife, who is still hammering out knives, will join us and post pictures of her knives more often. We need more Maggie May Fikes bowies.

You're actually right. Due to the way you put it, I'm not liking you quite as much, but you have a point.

Now, Roger's advice and his post were both helpful and suggested a better way to locate the knife without disrupting the privacy of the owner. Helpful to the owner, too, as it's always nice to have a list of potential buyers in your back pocket, if you ever need to sell. This is a perfect example of how we can help each other and even correct each other, with a bit of class.

Pete....don't know if you have ever met myself, or Roger.

Roger is the embodiment of class...he is meticulous, polite, and polished...class in a word....in his personal, and would assume, professional dealings.

I am like a furry sledgehammer....although I clean up nice....classy is not a word frequently associated with my person or behavior....sorry if you don't like me as much....but was being honest...take it as you will.
