Don Hanson’s “Scary II” Folding Dagger

Thank you, Kevin! It was a pleasure working with you on this, you had a lot of input and in a positive way.

Coop nailed the photo!

Thanks for the good words folks!

nice work, Don!

A thing of beauty! I love everything about this knife. Nice detail everywhere. Both Kevin and Don already knew I'd be drooling over this one.

I had thought the first one was a KILLER, yet this one knocks it out:thumbup:;) Love the ivory!:D

Just a tremendous dagger, Kevin. Don did a super job on it and made the loss of #1 much easier on you. :D

The journeys we take in each addition to the collection can take numerous twist.

Kevin, very nice indeed.. I like large, slim auto's as well. The higher end ones, like both of these, just peg the cool meter. (IMO) These are made with such nice materials and designed so well.. Nice work by DH and a great addition to your collection.. Best, Rich

Kevin, I noticed you sold your other auto (not the Hanson). Did the Hanson scare it away??

Thanks for ALL the positive comments guys. Really appreciate it.

Hi Jon.
Yes, I did sell the Steigerwalt and the new owner is very pleased with it.
I do have my eye on another though.

Several of you mentioned the ivory on this piece. That's one of the changes we implemented on this piece over the last. The first has beautiful north sea mammoth ivory with deep, rich color, bark and some surface cracking/crackling. This one has ancient Walrus with beautiful deep and contrasting color but is smooth as glass without any bark or surface cracking.

As I mentioned, Don supplied update photos as he was creating the folder.
Thought I would share this image as if anyone is curious as to how the mechanism works, a quick examination of this photo will give a good indication.
The tolerances here will make or brake a piece like this. Any of you who have had the opportunity to inspect this type of Don's folders know they operate with absolute precision.

Here's a couple more photos showing Don making those pesky little 18K gold screws. I think this is Don's favorite part; NOT ;) :

the fact that Don makes his own screws is only one indication of why he is one of the best.

There isn't anything I don't LOVE about that knife!!! I wish you HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on that incredible knife!!! WOW, WOW, WOW!!

Hi folks,

Yes, this knife is fantastic. I am not 100% sure it's better or nicer, but my photo might indicate that. The first one was/is incredible, too.

I loved the glassy smoothness Don polished into the scales, and that gave it depth. The longer tail bolster is a treat, as is the addition of the gold insert on the backspine.

I'd say it's a tad more refined. :)

Kevin and Don both work at the upper reaches of quality, and so this knife comes as no surprise.

A hearty congratulations to ALL!
