Don and I have been discussing this project for months, but keeping it under wraps. Kinda.

I wanted him to build me something different from his norm, but with the Hanson Style.

I wanted (3) aspects in particular: A LARGE tactical-based folder, with a KillerHamon© and some HansonMonster® bolsters. ;)

I wasn't keen on Don's signature mammoth ivory on this type of folder. Don mentioned he had some antique Micarta (Westinghouse?) laying low. Yeah, that's JUST the ticket for me.

Here is his initial drawing from months ago, and his WIP shot of the profiles and the scale material:

We discussed a few other things, and he decided that a thumbdisk would be especially kewl. (Don had never done a thumbdisk.) That, and a custom clip which was befitting of the usage.

This just arrived without any further photos tempting me. You can ONLY imagine the smile that elucidated when the pouch was opened. :D

This is ONE Big Honkin' folder. Here's the details:

Fitment is unsurpassed, the action and lock upon opening are fully worthy of the 'ClackFactor' moniker, and the micarta is polished to a sheen like all his ivories. (The edge next to the bolster sits about .010" proud and rounded. He likes it just that way.)

And there you have it.

Great looking knife, Don. Big kudos!

When you said "thumbdisk" I had a minor apoplectic fit--hate 'em with a passion--but I should've figured that if anyone could make a cool one it would be Don. And he succeeded.

That is an awesome folder.

Someone may chime in shortly bemoaning the blade/handle ratio ( ;) ) but I think it works perfectly.

Wow, that's outstanding, you must be very very pleased!

Incredible blade profile.

that is by far the nicest Hanson folder I have seen posted here Coop. most of them tend to be much to busy for me, but this is just the right balance. good work boths of ya.

Thanks, Aaron. :D

My photograph is deceptive. Look back at the original drawing. It's nearly identical. The blade almost runs out the back of the handle. Believe it, it's ALL blade. Don will offer his sentiments on this once he chimes in.

Oh my god Coop. That is REALLY amazing. Aside from the recurve the blade has almost a tanto look which is just incredible looking. That thumb disk is amazing with the mosaic damascus. Wow. Real winner here.

I mean come on- even severed likes it!

Great googly moogly that is AWESOME!! I was also disappointed when I heard thumb disk, as I HATE them too. BUT, when I saw that Hanson thumb disk, I was blown away. Leave it to Don to make the coolest thumb disk EVER. That hamon....just everything blows my socks off!!! So, what ARE the specs. on the beauty?

It is almost Halloween:D

Thanks Coop, always a pleasure working with you. Super Images, man!!!

Blade to handle ratio; This is a pet peeve of mine. A folder will always have a longer handle than blade, always.

I stuff as much blade into a folder handle as can fit. :D Look at the closed shot, there's blade sticking out the front and the point is right at the black, couldn't be any longer.

One thing about this folder is the blade is much wider than most folder blades. This give the illusion of shortness.

Coop will have to give measurements, I don't thing I measured this beast. 4" blade?

Thanks for all the comment, folks! Much appreciated!
