Don created a beautiful Stag & Damascus Liner-lock Folder for the last Blade Show which I really liked but I wanted one a little more conducive for pocket carry. So Don drew up a pattern and created a shorter version and below is the result. I’ve always liked this style blade profile/clip on folders.
Coop’s images are beautiful as is his norm and really demonstrate both him and Don’s exceptional talents.

Open Length = 7.25”
Blade Length = 3.25”
Closed Length = 4.00”

Damascus forged by Don from 1084 & 15n20:
Bolster- Laddered ‘W’
Blade- Twisted ‘W’

Handle Slabs – Premium Amber Sambar Stag
Gold Anodized Liners
Thumbstud – 14K Gold

Those of you who have inspected Don’s knives and/or have been fortunate enough to own one are familiar with their exceptional fit & finish and the precise mechanics of his folders resulting in that Hanson ‘Click’.

I thank you in advance for your interest and please feel free to share your thoughts.

Don's folders have a Modern/Traditional beauty all their own.

This Stag and Damascus is a stunner. Great one, Kevin.

Stunning Kevin! I love the blade profile.

I was wondering what kind of stag you would end up with from that batch. this is a very nice set indeed, complimented perfectly by the gold liners. Use it in health!

Elegant, i really love the amber stag.
I am not big fan of pattern welded. But twisted "w" pattern is match well with the amber stag.
DH III is exceptional knifemaker.
That's what i said to Harisson Ford when he came to my place few weeks ago. For his documentary program.
I gave him a West Java traditional golok, he loves it very much and then we discussed about knife... After that we had a dinner and the discussion about knife continued.
I said to him that your country has so many "the world best knifemakers", one of them is Don Hanson III.
Then he wrote in the napkin DH III name, since we don't want to bother the waitress to ask a piece of paper.

Thats a beauty. Love the materials used on this one. The twisted Ws pattern is my favorite for a blade under 6". Don did great work on this one. Congrats on your new knife Kevin. I am a bit envious as this is also one of my favorite blade profiles also. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful blade shape, stunning stag! Simple and complicated at the same time. The colors and textures are warm and compliment each other so well.

Congrats, Kevin and really nice job, Don. I'd be proud to own and show off this one. Coop's shot brings out all of the fine attributes of this knife.

That's amazing work all the way around. Beautiful materials on a really nice, really well designed knife. I'd be proud to carry that around.

Man alive, Kevin, that's just about perfect.
Great get !
Drooling over the stag..WOW !
DH3's work is so awesome, be it big Bowies or folders, he does it all.
Congrats to you both !!
Super images, Coop.

It's funny how every time I a click a link that says "Hanson Folder" or "Hanson Bowie/Fighter", I always end up having a new favorite example of Don's work! I really can't imagine a more comfortable looking knife for EDC Kevin...this one just looks perfect. Don, you're a Rock Star brother! Coop, the top/bottom views of the knife also add a whole new level of coverage beyond the traditional side-views. Unbelievably helpful for those of us who sit and drool over these beauties and try to figure out how they're made! Thanks for sharing guys!!

Whether it's music, or athletics, or knives--the Masters make it look easy.

There are hard edges and soft edges.
There are smooth curves and stark lines.
The material has smooth area and craggy areas.
There is color and there is black and white.

Put it all together to compliment each other and you get pages of compliments. :)

Yes, I agree: Harrison Ford needs a DH3 folder and a Big Honkin' Bowie™ in his life.

There was a LOT of texture in this. I used a backdrop that also had that flavor, yet remained simple.

Don's work makes ME look good.

Don and Kevin: Thanks.

Coop

Downright elegant. I bet it feels every bit as good as it looks. Coop captured the formula above, but making it actually happen is another matter. Congratulations to all involved, and thanks for sharing.

Congratulations to both of you--that is a very special piece. Just beautiful in every way.

Les qualités esthetiques de ce couteau dissimulent parfaitement le systéme Liner
qui avouons le n' est pas la plus belle chose du monde

bravo Don encore une merveille

The aesthetic qualities of the knife concealed perfectly Liner system
which let's face it 's not the most beautiful thing in the world

Congratulations Don still a wonder
