This is the latest Don Hanson addition to my collection and it is a beast.

14 & 5/8" (Typo thanks Don) blade, forged from 1084, W2, 15N20 & 203E, 20" overall length. Damascus fittings, 18k gold pin, and a rather large fossil walrus ivory handle. As you can see it is deserving of the name "Big Motha" I believe this is the largest fixed blade to date from Don. I think I could cut easily down a large tree with this knife. I have added a couple of photos to show just how big it really is. Note the Indian Head nickel in the first photo. In the the next photo, the second largest blade is 11". Paul Long as you can see contributed his standard of excellence. The beautiful black sheath with elephant leather inlays.

Amazing stuff there. I love all the new photos, especially the sheath layout. That knife is huge and another reason I think your a pirate. ;)

Jon,

As Crocodile Dundee would say, "Now that's a knife."

It really is a "Big Motha."

Congratulations on picking up another great knife.

OMG, Jon !

Congrats again !
Great images of a fantastic knife/sheath combo, aptly named.

Thanks for sharing !

Tight lines,
Doug :)

Jon, who made the bottom knife of the four knife picture? Those are all great knives. Love the sheaths also:thumbup::D:thumbup:

Chuck,

In the 4 sheath photo in order top to bottom:

Rodrigo Sfreddo/Sfreddo Sheath
Don Hanson/Paul Long Sheath
Tom Ferry/Paul Long Sheath
2010 March of Dimes/Chris Kraffits of Treestump Leather Sheath

I will be doing separate posts on each one of these knives or update the original posts now that I have these great photos from Coop.

Take care, Jon

Yeah, Jon wanted a Big Bowie :D

This was a fun piece, well, except for hand sanding that blade.

Paul did a number on the sheath, as always and Coop really shows it off well.

Thanks Jon!

P.S. I believe the blade is 14-5/8"? I could be wrong though.

Really exceptional bowie Jon, or should I say short sword. I bet Don had fun grinding that one and the hand finishing. Now thats a knife.

That's a beast! What a killer piece. The sheath looks great.

Jon, you've got over an inch and a half more than my big Hanson  Congrats!!!

Wow that is cool the biggest bowie I have ever seen. You got to love it when it all comes together like that.

...and a rather large fossil walrus ivory handle.

Man, rather large I guess!! Just a great big bowie and sheath. Don and Paul both went to extra lengths on their fantastic work, in this case. Awesome addition to a nice collection, Jon.

was that knife made recently?
Great job as always, Don:thumbup: You deserve a congrats too, Jon, you have been blessed with excellent taste in knives:thumbup:

Wow! Congrats on an incredible piece, I'm trying hard not to be too jealous, but it's not working :)

That's a beautiful beast all right. In fact, those four knives in the second shot make a fine bowie collection all by themselves. And they are not all by themselves. Congrats on a fine new addition.

That is a knife that I would like and be proud to own. I will have to start putting some money to one side for a beauty like that. I also like the third one down

He he he! The day I was working on Jon's knives I had a young plumber over for a water heater tuneup. It required him to go through my studio. He's the son of a longtime friend.

Anyway, I proudly show him what I am doing in there. I have one knife all set in the tent, and so I go to this one on my layout table and draw it out of the sheath to show him.

He literally steps back a requisite two steps and goes: "Whoooooaaaaa. Dude!"

Point taken. :p

It's a charming knife. Good and front heavy for a nice strong whack.
