For those of you who might own some of Don Hanson III's work (especially those with some "SCARY" Damascus pieces), check out a couple of close-ups of some blade/bolster material. I love how such mosaic Damascus includes "DH III" interspersed throughout it. Have always loved his stuff!!

I see at least one 16 piece billet weld with 16 different patterns, but there's also a bit of randomness to the tiling on the bolster. SO MUCH COMPLEXITY!

The blade is accordion cut out of a similarly complex piece.

Each single pattern requires a canister weld, then drawing down into a bar.

It's weeks of work just to make the steel in the first place.

In case anyone is wondering why I would have purchased two expensive Hanson folders so much alike, the reason is that someone made my a offer I couldn't refuse on the first one and Don is such a cool guy
he said sell it and I will make you another.

Great story, Kevin!

You guys are making me I'll. I have always been a big admirer of Dons.
Now you're gonna make me buy $500 worth of lottery tickets to get "real" knife collector money.
