Don Hanson III Zulu slipjoint makeover

In my eyes both before & after have on thing I don't like... the bright blue liners.

Other than that, I must say I prefer the "blue" mammoth, but the craggy brown look on the "before" has a certain attraction too.

Very interesting knife!

Kind regards,

Jos

Jos- I figured you wouldn't like the blue liners. ;)

Coop- The knife is about 1.5 years old. When I bought it- it was mint but the blade had some spots I didn't like so I had wanted to do this all along (not sure why they were there- probably something the previous owner did). Also I played with the screws a bit and messed them up. It may not have needed it but I asked for a full refurb for the heck of it!

Joe (Canine)- I wasn't sure what I was thinking either. The knife is not back in my hands yet so hopefully when I get it I will feel I made the right choice. Hope it didn't hurt Don too much.

Thanks for comments.

Thanks guys!

I do like the smooth blue, but there's something about the natural texture of the good stuff. :D

Coop- Two drafts, and then the final image. You know I have issues.. =)

Jon,

You do like to tinker with your knives.:)

I also liked it both ways. In the first version I loved the texture of the Ivory, in the final version I think that the blue Ivory is beautiful.

Nice stash of scales out of hiding, Don! With Jon's project, and the professional images of both ivory versions, you can give your client an A or B choice with many of these. Pretty cool.

I Love Texteured And Bark Ivories ..but I must say the refurb really sets this piece Off
Just Lovely!

...don't think I prefer one over the other.
Don can answer this and Jon will see for himself soon, by my impression is that after the refurb it has a slim quality to it that I like in a mid to large folder, soze I can more comfortably carry it with me if I wants to. That could be a deciding factor that's not so apparent in these particular images. What do you say, Don?

Buddy, slim is in, especially when it goes in the pocket. But it this case not much thickness was removed. For many years I've made folders as thin as reasonably possible. :)
