With Paul Long sheath.

Sometimes the mailman can just knock your socks off.

I received this yesterday from South Texas. Thought Paul was sending out marketing materials. ;)

Much to my surprise, this was in the package! I had missed out on one of these in Arkansas at Jerry's Micro Show (Darby ripped it off of Don's belt! :p). Don made a second one for the Little Rock Show, which Kevin picked up.

Here is number 3. 9-inches OAL, 4 1/4-inch cutting edge. A bit longer than the first two. 1086M steel with great hamon activity. Super stag handle with tapered tang. And, Paul's sheath is what you would expect out of his shop, just fabulous! Looking forward to strapping this to my side and seeing if I can wear the knife or the sheath out. I'll report back on that in a few decades...

That's a beautiful package. Great hunter and sheath.

I hope the mailman brings me something from Don someday. :D

Boy that's nice. So sleek. And another great sheath by Paul. I like that tooling pattern he's been using lately.

Most excellent! I liked the one Don had at Little Rock an awful lot, but like this slightly larger version even more. Congrats!

Simple, clean, elegant... a great example of less is more.

Congrats Joe.
I think Don hit a home run with this little design, I love mine, which is 8" OAL, with a 3-7/8" cutting edge.

As far as preference for size, I feel it depends on how you like to carry it and what tasks you will use it for.
I like the 8" version because when I'm bumming around in jeans (which is most of the time) I don't wear a belt
and the compact size (even in it's Kenny Rowe sheath) fits comfortably in either my back or front pocket.

Now if wearing a belt and carrying on a hunting trip than I would opt for the 9" version as it offers more versatility.

I will be caring mine at BLADE Show. Here's a photo for size comparison. It's amazing how much they look alike, even the stag.

An 8-inch fixed blade is pushing the limits of pocket carry, but I can see it working. Having large hands, I have always preferred a hunting or utility blade and handle a touch longer than normally accepted. Then, with a little longer fixed blade strapped to your side, you get into the sheathed knife being in the way when seated, like in one's vehicle. 9-inches is pushing the limit there, I have discovered, but will also work.

I always envision a large sheathed bowie in one's back pocket after seeing John Fitch doing that all weekend at a knife show several years ago. I realized then, when carrying a larger knife, where there's a will there's a way. :)

The Don Hanson III Stags are beautiful.

The Paul Long Sheath is the icing on the cake.

My thanks to all for your wonderful share of good fortune and excellent craftsmanship.
