Don Hanson Stag EDC

Joe & Don, great piece. That Brut de Hanson blade with hamon is out of this world. Love the shape, textures, and overall design of this knife. I'll have to see if I can get into the Darby, Kevin, Joe owners club.

Both Paul's and Kenny's sheaths make for quite a handsome package.

Where does Don get all the time to make these knives while fishin at Reelfoot Lake? ..... no one knows.

1086M is some good stuff. I have some and it's super easy to heat treat, and makes a great blade.

That knife is sweet, Joe. :)

Since we have Joe's and Kevin's shown here. We need a look at Darby's knife. :)

You can never go wrong with Don Hanson and Paul Long.
Never.
It's one of a kind...

An 8-inch fixed blade is pushing the limits of pocket carry, but I can see it working. Having large hands, I have always preferred a hunting or utility blade and handle a touch longer than normally accepted. Then, with a little longer fixed blade strapped to your side, you get into the sheathed knife being in the way when seated, like in one's vehicle. 9-inches is pushing the limit there, I have discovered, but will also work.

I am with you there. You can always request the sheath to be made to sit a little higher on the right hip - or my preference - cross-draw on the left hip. Paul did a modified pouch sheath for me that way for a knife with about an 8" blade - it's a lot more portable as a result than vertical carry on the right.

Once again - terrific knife.

PS - I've seen Fitch's "pocket bowie" carry. What can I say - he somehow manages to pull it off.

Congrats Joe, Kevin and Darby.

I could not agree more with mostho. Put a Hansen knife (can't go wrong there) with a Long sheath (can't go wrong there either) together and the result is pretty darn special.

Joe and Roger are both right. You can carry a lot more blade in a smaller space if you go with either right or left hand angled cross draw. Makes for easy in and out of the car or truck and is perfect for horseback use. Worn on the off side front quarter of the body, it is handy and out of the way. I make a lot of this style any more.

My boy Joey Paranee can give lessons on how to carry a 12" blade out of sight.:D

would make a clean and handsome folder, methinks.

Fantastic man, a very simple, yet elegant knife. perfect size for every day use. I'd be very happy to get that in the mail too.

any chance you'd make a folding version of this pattern, Don?
