I was looking for a local person to heat treat my blades and ended up talking to Don. He ended up inviting me over to learn how to heat treat. I went over today and all I can say is that he is an awesome guy. He HTed my blades, showed me how to put a better finish an my completed blades, made me a concealex sheath for one of my knives, treated me to lunch, gave me one of his how to videos, two of his instruction manuals, detailed instructions, designs, and photos on how to make different kinds of folders and not to mention the advice and experience that this man has on knife making. He has made a life long friend in with me. To all you other knifemaker pro's who take the time out to help a newbe like me I salute you, and thank you all for your time. I will definitly be hanging out with him when ever I get a chance, even if its to help him clean up his nice workshop. Thats the least I could do.

Sounds like an awesome time. Knifemakers are (as a rule) the most generous group I've been around. Most are generous to a fault. Just remember when you are in a position to honor his teachings.

If the day should come when I am in that positions I surely will. He makes some very beautiful knives and I hope I can be half of the skilled knifemaker he is.

Don sounds like a great guy. I know that I would not be making nearly as good a knife without all the help I received from Tom Krein and Dan Koster.
