Donating to service man. FOUND!

David Brown emailed me and we have a source for a sheath!

Petah, were you saying you did not get my last email? or some one else's email?

I will re send in just in case.

(I sent it both direct from my email, and through Bladeforums email service as that seemed to work last time).

This is the second time I had some one say an email neither show up or show up blank.

I just wanna say... I love this forum!! The good folks who frequent it make me proud to be here. Since yesterday, I've learned that several more HOGs are down for helping to put great steel in the very capable hands of some of our most worthy active duty servicemen/servicewomen, and I received a PM just this morning from a good HOG who's willing to donate a few knives to the cause!

YOU GUYS ROCK!!! :cool::thumbup:

This is starting to turn into our own little cupidmilisantaganzaaa! You guys are great!

Just wanted to drop by and say what a great gesture this is guys, I have no use for anything more than a cheap folder (customs horror stories from heading downrange), but I would love to take some INFI with me to the sandbox - I'll be there for my first time later this year!

Petah, if the "chosen" have a specific request, that would help me. I will kick in anything they'd like, from a Force One to a Boss Jack to a SFNO. I don't have any experience "in the sand," so I'm not sure what sort of blades are the most helpful over there. Please let me know.

Petah, Jaxx,

Great idea, Great cause, & Great bunch of Folks.
I have a worthy blade and sheath ready to go.
Just send an email to:
usn76socom@yahoo.com with info on where to ship.

Thanks,

Dave Brown told me to tell you guys, whatever is needed let him or I know.

I love the amount of stepping up here.

I sent an email to Amy-0 and the Boss Man asking what the best options/course of action for proceeding.

Great thread! Great Folks!

Thank you for your very generous offer!!
Hang tight for now... Methinks we got some organizing to do before getting anyone to send anything anywhere at this time. :)

......................................................

Folks, I love this outpouring of generosity and it is heartily encouraged, but there are a few issues to address...namely that we (if I may be so bold to speak for petah & Bigfattyt as well) want to see all proceeds go into the hands of worthy active duty military personnel, preferable those either already deployed or facing imminent deployment. Personally, I'd like to see candidates either vouched for or vetted if not already. Having participated in a similar smaller giveaway a few years back, it came to light that the recipient may not have been so worthy. Although I can't be completely sure on that, I don't to see this possibility happen again.

So far with what I know, we already have quite a list of very worthy vouched for & vetted candidates.:thumbup:

Signing in again for a few.

I back up Jaxx 1000%. Orginally I wanted to help take the edge off. Now, however with all the community envolvement I think we need to make sure those who are receiving are the ones the most in need.

I also have had a few requests to send me $$ to help in this. I believe all funds should be sent to one person (I nominate Jaxx as he is a symbol of authority here)

BigfattyT's cousin is taken care of (or will be soon)

Thank you SO much to those that have stepped up. I will go through this later when I have some more time (I will help you out 100% Alex)

Just want to say what an awesome idea! The generosity of some people is simply outstanding! Top work people!

Bigfattyt cousin has been(or just about to be) taken care of. Waiting on emails and info for the rest.

keep up the good work guys,

I just got back from A-stan and most of the troops are carrying junk knives due to $$$

hope you get them into the hands of "field" troops, as it seams the KAF dwellers get all the perks.

I already have some Busses

Ditto on info and emails.

Folks, as much as I love the generosity of ya'll towards our worthy servicemen & service women, I'm asking you to hold on to your cash donations at this time. Although there may be a fairly large project a short way down the pike, more details must be known before we get to the question of how to fund it...at least in part. :) I want to be able to tell y'all what your donation will be put towards, and who or what group will be receiving what your donations help to fund first.

As for those who generously offered to donate knives... As worthy candidates present themselves and are vouched for by known members of this sub-forum (or the SwampRat sub-forum/Swamp, or the ScrapYard forum) and/or are vetted, only then will I ask those who have offered to send their knives to either me or the receiving candidate. If any of you who have offered their knives up for donation feel that any of these knives need a sharpening and/or need a sheath before being donated, please PM me.

I feel that steps must be taken to keep these knives in the hands of these very worthy active military personnel already in the field or facing imminent deployment and who need a great knife.

ALSO... We would like these knives to go to who can actually carry them. What I mean is that I learning that many units of each branch of the military have certain restrictions on what types of knives their unit members may carry with them as part of their gear on deployment. So, for example, if all that you can carry is a folder, please don't ask us for fixed blade that one of our guys donated. If all you can carry is a fixed-blade knife with a 4 inch maximum blade, please don't ask for a knife with a 6 inch blade... We want to pair up donated knives with those who will actually be able to use them while on deployment, know what I mean? :)

ETA: Almost forgot... For those interested in Bigfattyt's project, please contact him directly. :) (...Is this right, petah? ...or should they be reaching out to you?)

By way of update, I have emailed Amy. She said she wanted to check with Garth on turn around, or what the best options were. Just waiting on hearing back from her.

I am leaning toward ordering a Boss Jack and having it sent directly to Robert, just to cut down on the time.

As soon as I hear back again from Amy (or some one else from the shop) I will place the order and update you guys.

Thanks again.

heat gun at the ready :D

E-mail me how I can help

Just another update.

The knife for my cousin Robert is ordered! Boss Jack Muddy with Tan scales. No choil (based on some feed back from some knowledgeable active duty folks).

David, I will shoot you another email when it is ready to ship to see if you have a pattern for the current production Choil-less.
