Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to connect 115v power to this motor using an appliance cord. I am very confused by the diagram, but maybe you will not be. Good luck.

Well, here goes with the little I know. Single phase motors are something I have very little experience with. Since you're wanting single phase 120 vac. Check the low volt drawing.

Take the Blk, Wht, and Yel wires, tie them all together and connect to the black (hot) wire in the extension cord.

Thank the Brn, Orn, and Red wires together and insulate the wires.

Take the Purple wire and tie to the white (Neutral) wire of the extension cord.

BE SURE to connect the ground wire to the green (ground) wire in the extension cord.

That should have you running in the CCW rotation direction.

Me and my brother worked on it for more than an hour, partly just him doing some research. Like you, he does not have much experience with single phase motors. We finally got it running clockwise, and then reversing it was simple. I don't remember how we did it, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was like you describe.

Congrats on getting the motor going. With the wiring diagram it's not too hard - but if it's your first time it sure can lead to uncertainty.

I like Marathon motors, we use/abuse them at work and they seem very durable......
