Hi: I'm trying to get some history and value of a knife. It's a folding lock back with a 3" blade.

The bone or tusk flat sided handle has a scrimshawed Frederic Remington painting. Scrimshawed into to other side is "0285" presumeably a serial number.

On one side of the single drop-point 3" blade is a logo "Mountain Shadow" which is maybe where the maker lives. The other side is etched with a mountain man on a horse riding down a mountain side. One one side of the blade near the bolster it says "Black Lightning." On the other side it says "United States Curlery Japan" That last one is strange. I looked all over the net and can't find anything on this knife.

Oh, the bolsters look like they might be nickel silver. The handles are beige with rust markings. It is real pretty. If someone wants pics, I'll email them.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Don P.
