Good for Don. I strongly suspect that his independent spirit is a good part of his continued mental sharpness as well.
Back in the '80s, I worked for a while in a nursing home (I was in my early 20s), and it wasn't the nicest nursing home to be in. I remember one gentleman who was a new arrival in the home. I was working maintenance, and he greeted me and told me they were making him sit in a wheelchair, for policy reasons, even though he didn't need it. He thought it was ridiculous, and I noted how very sharp he was mentally and how healthy he seemed. Unfortunately, a week or two later, I saw him again, and this time, he needed the wheelchair, and he had deteriorated, probably due to depression from his surroundings, and the lack of anyone, staff or patients, who would/could actually speak with him.
So you go, Don. Keep that Classic and continue using it as the tool you know it to be, even if others would try to deny it to you.
