Just a quick reminder to all of you knife nuts to not forget how important and tolerant your wives are. I'll share my most recent story as to what reminded me to give my wife a little well deserved appreciation for her tolerance and help.
Since my shop went up it's held some stuff in storage for my mom which has been on 2 4'x8' shelving units that pretty much take up half the shop. Add to that that I'm not the most organized person and the interior of the building had become pretty scary. Between all the "great deals" I've brought home that just don't have a home yet and all the grinding dust from lots of damascus making it was pretty bad...
Well, Mom is coming into town next week to go through things stored here in PA and get stuff shipped down to her now house, so this stuff has to get gone through. My wife spent 2 days in the shop while I was sick getting it ready for the impending visit. Let me tell you guys, she did more to return the shop to habitable in 2 days than I could have in a week. I can see concrete floor, and there's space to get to everything without walking over anything. Mom's stuff is sorted, reorganized and compressed into one corner of the shop, the 12' work bench was moved somewhere sane, my collection of ironwood logs is organized on a shelf, extra post vises are all in one place (I have a vice for vises)...it's just amazing.
So, take a minute to remember all the stuff your wives do to support you. I know I'm extremely lucky, and I bet most of you are too. Just remember to take a minute to thank them for all the putting up with us that they do...
